I remember reading some alex gordon trade rumors at the deadline. 

So? I remember reading Ryan Zimmerman rumors two years ago, but that doesn't mean that anything was ever close. Gordon is more or less KC's equivalent to Zimm. (Butler is too though.) He's one guy they absolutely will keep. If they can get some pitching this offseason- along with Duffy and Paulino returning from TJ- they'll probably have a shot at .500 next season. They're basically where we were during the 2010/11 offseason. They've got good pieces in place and they'll be looking to add some impact players to start really moving towards contention, not subtract the impact players they already have.
