Game 5 roll call & info/tips/meeting spot
« Topic Start: October 11, 2012, 08:08:01 PM »
Title is self-explanatory.

I'll be there, planning on taking the metro.  Any advice from people who've already been to an NLDS game is welcomed.

Get there early. I got to Game 4 right at 4:00 PM, and the CF gate was jammed. They had a guy telling people to go to the side entrances down South Capital Street.

Minimize your drinking: bathroom lines were intensely long.

We'll be there in 418. Normally I'd pick up Ms1995hoo at her office, but on the way out tonight we agreed I'll just drive over and park early and she'll take the subway across town.

If you are sitting upstairs, get food early. Yesterday they started running out by the 5th inning again. (Don't know today, I was there by 1:40 and ate and had two beers pre-game and then nothing during the game other than a toilet run early.)

Based on the game time, I'd expect possible chilly weather.

Bathroom lines inside the Red Loft are surprisingly short. A good tip to pass to your lady friends

Ugh, same here, in all likelihood.

Of course I end up having the biggest exam of my life tomorrow afternoon.

Also, I'd you have SRO tix get there early at the CF gate and bum rush the red porch as well lol. You can get a seat at the restraurant for the whole game lol

That's kinda what I was thinking about doing. How does it work up there? If you get there do you have a reserved table, or is it pretty much open seating?

No, but when you travel with large entourages of nubile young womenfolk, anything that keeps them comfortable and happy is your friend.

Jealousy is a stinky cologne dude :lmao:

Red porch is first come first serve like any Restraunt where you have to check in with the hoatess for a table. Red loft is more like a bar with no tables...

I was there for the first game. The crowds are like OD in numbers but the concessions are running much better because the workers have all season to hone their skills. And people are more into the game and not getting up as much for food, drinks, etc., for obvious reasons.

Correct. Food lines were really short, and the two food stands I hit up were being run as efficiently as I've ever seen. One of the guys making my cheese steak even lectured me on the value of teamwork.

Were you not being a team player somehow?

Make sure you have enough money on your Metro card to get to the game and back!!! It is a huge pain to refill your card after the game.

So the way the cheese steak stand works is, one guy takes your order and puts the meat on it, another guy puts the cheese on it and hands it to you.

I didn't know this. So when the guy went over to put cheese on my steak, I thought he didn't know that somebody was already making my order, so I said "that dude is making my cheese steak"

to which I heard "WE are making your cheese steak, we work as a team!"
