Here is a link to the ECAC profile on Boston.com, which has links to profiles of Hockey East and other conferences.

Union looks quite strong. Cornell too.  Yale picked for 5th.

i think last week i saw something where cornell was in the teens. now they are top five without playing a game and have overtaken union. i'd like to know what looks so promising. i dont think they had any top recruits at least in terms of guys recently drafted in the nhl

The defense is always stout.  I can't wait for it to begin.  Taking my oldest to his first Cornell game this year.

if the nhl lockout lasts much longer I might have to make it a point to get up there. maybe watch hershey on the way to or from. at the very least check out the cornell michigan game at msg, but that will probably lack some atmosphere

bump because it is the only game in town.

Of course, by town, I mean Boston, where I am right now.

Nice game last night on NBCsports.  cornell-Harvard.  Cornell has some big boys, but Harvard beat them at Lynah and looked like they deserved it.

In 2 weeks  you have a good double header - BC-BU early, and Denver late.

cornell made a few mistakes and harvard cashed in. cornell controlled the second half of the game, but the final pass or bounce was never there. not putting passes where guys could handle them quickly. they seem to impose their size and strength, but the hands werent there. harvard blocked a ton of shots too and their goalie settled down after the softie. that is three ECAC losses in a row for Cornell after being ranked #3 in the country. disappointing

Cornell seems to lack skilled stick-handlers.

Bump in honor of my Bulldogs heading west after thanksgiving and beating #2 Denver and #14 Colorado College back to back overtime wins.  4 wins over ranked teams, 3 in their last 3 road games.  They have a road loss and a neutral ice tie with Dartmouth, which is now ranked (also a loss to Clarkson at home 1-0 on a late 3d period goal). The colorado wins jumped them from unranked to ##13/15 in the polls, and pairwise has them 5th ( ) .

Jeff Malcolm seems to have beaten out Nic Maricic for goalie, although Maricic came in for Malcolm after the first 4 or 5 goals in the CC game.  You have to figure the travel, altitude, and back to backs may have worn down Malcolm.

Stu Wilson wins rookie of the week for the ECAC, with a shorthanded goal v. Denver and an assist on the overtime game winner at CC.  he is the son of the RIT coach.

How about Yale!?!   A sweep in Colorado against DU and CC and now well into the top 20.

Quinnipiac is undefeated in the conference and 10-3-2 overall.

Boston College men’s hockey team regained the top spot in Monday’s USCHO.com Top 20 poll, passing a New Hampshire team that had supplanted BC a week prior.

The Eagles (11-2-1), who got 35 of the 50 first-place votes, tied Providence in their only action of the week.

The Wildcats, who slipped to second place and received nine first-place votes, lost a 3-2 decision to Boston University.

The Terriers (10-5-0) rose one spot to No. 6 after that win, coupled with a 1-0 victory over Maine.

Quinnipiac now up to #9 in USCHO.  Poll has 5 ECAC teams at 9 - 15 (Q at 9, Dartmouth #10, cornell #12, Union #14, yale #15).  Harvard #18, but they were blown out last night by UMass-Lowell 5-0.  Not sure how yale stayed at #15 with a bad loss to RPI and home tie with Union.  Digressing to Pairwise, it is very kind to the ECAC, with Q #6, Dartmouth #3, Yale #8, and cornell  #9.

Back to USCHO, Nebraska-Omaha up to #13   They have Union I think after Christmas.

3 HE teams in the top 6, as mentioned in the article.  niagara (#16) is the highest ranked outside the 4 traditional conferences.  Ferris State, last year's runner up, off to a bad start (7-6-3, #19).

Big out-of-conference weekend coming up for the ECAC.

Yale @ B.C.
RPI @ B.U.
Cornell @ Denver (twice)
Union @ Lake Superior State
Mass-Lowell @ Clarkson

And for DPM:  Colorado College @ U.N.O. (twice) and U.N.O. is ranked #16.

(halfsmokes) Of course Colgate schedules a cupcake . . .  ;)

The article also talks about Colgate's big results and scoring, as well as the Quinnipiac streak.

Also, Notre Dame hockey continues the school's lousy week, losing 4-1 to Minnesota last night in the second No. 1 v. No. 2 game the school had in 2 days.

Of course, Colgate croaked Yale the next night, but 2 points is about all that is reasonable to expect on that swing.

Saturday, 4 of the top 8 won (UNH, Minn, Miami, Notre Dame), BC lost, and No. Dak tied St Cloud.  BU went 1-0-1 v. Providence, so I expect them to rise from #10.  Western michigan won twice as well, so they will probably jump Yale.  I'm thinking Quinnipiac #1, Minnesota #2, UNH #3, Miami #4, BC down to 5th, and Yale down to #10 or 11.

In USCHO's poll, Minnesota hangs on to #1 over the Q, 975 - 967, UNH and Miami jump BC, W. Mich up all the way to #6, Notre Dame dropped to #9, and the Elis still stay at #8.  BU #11.

UNO #14.

QU is #1 in the PWR.  Good rep from the ECAC this year.  Yale is solid and Dartmouth looks like a potential sleeper.

Right now, USCHO has 4 from the WCHA, CCHA, and HE, 3 from ECAC, and Niagara from the AHA in the NCAAs.  Q a number #1, Yale a seed, and Dartmouth a 3.  UNH hosting as a #1 in Manchester, BC a #2, UML and BU.  Dartmouth would get Manchester for attendance purposes.  I don't know if they would put Yale or BC in Providence.  BC is the bigger draw, of course.

Northeastern beats BU in the first round of the Beanpot.  First time in 25 years.  This is the first BU class not to win the Beanpot at least once.  BC beats Harvard, in a pure case of dog bites man, or in this case eagle kills rodent.

Q beat the Eli saturday.  Small asterisk because the Bulldogs were without Jeff Malcolm, who was hurt the night before in the first minute of the Princeton game.  Minnesota stays #1, QU #2, Miami up to #3, UNH, BC.

Yale is having, by most standards, a really good year and yet it looks pedestrian next to what Quinnipiac is doing to the ECAC.

UNO and UND played at the CWS stadium Saturday.

Hockey East mostly took the weekend off due to the weather.  Beanpot finals are a go tonight.

Q had a good north country trip with 2 wins.

It ended up being warmer than normal in Omaha this weekend and they had some issues with the ice staying frozen.  Also, they didn't get the interest I think they expected fromt he event.  Even so, some cool images here: http://odc.omaha.com/index.php?u_page=5002&p=4295
