i wonder what the most runs a team has been outscored and still won a series?  I think the Mazeroski Pirates were absolutely destroyed in run differential, making the NYY the Pythag Champs that series.

edit - checked - the NYY were plus 28.

not hammered at all.  tired of seeing my team get hammered in the postseason.

oh but teddy won today!  we got free towels today!

outscored 20-4?!?!  in two games?!?!  down 2-1?!?!

sorry we're not as perfect as LANC/SSS thought we were.

I read somewhere that a team got routed in their first two games, then won the next three - can't remember who it was - but they were ugly games - like our last 2

i just hope they realize just b/c we had best record that we still have plenty of areas of weakness.

new OF bat.  new 2B.  new SP.  upgrade the bullpen too.

Nobody ever said they were perfect

And there's nothing wrong with towels or Teddy.

The Nats just didn't play well. People spent a lot of time, energy and money watching the team they root for lay a big fat egg. It totally sucks

But the last 2 games had nothing to do with LAC/LANC/SSS or any of that crap. They just didn't play well. It happens.

Try not to lose perspective.

It took you long enough, but this is a point worth discussing.

I think Espinosa has trade value to a team looking for a shortstop.  You could run Lombo out there until Rendon or Kobernus is ready, or you could make a deal. If you want to upgrade at 2d, who do you have in mind and how would you get him?

Morse/Espinosa/Jackson are not nats.

Morse is one of three players who brought their "A" game.

Jackson should not be signed. Let him walk.
'
Weren't a lot of fans screaming for Desmonds head last year? They will give Espinosa another season or partial.

Hammonds , I would hate to see how you react in a crisis.

He's just venting

Hammond's is a good egg - and a die hard Nats fan

Today sucked. I just had a long conversation with my teenager who is taking today very hard. He's really, really disappointed.

I totally get it

I may have over-estimated Espinosa during the year, but my view is any team that goes with a Defense-first SS is going to like having one who hits 15 - 20 HRs, steals a bit, and can get on at > .310 OBP.  I thin Alex Gonzalez played a number years with that sort of stat line, and there are others who play who can't do that.  You don't even have to slip to the yuni Betancourt level to find places he'd play.  That said, I just wonder if the fit is right here in terms of the roster and the offense.

Espinosa has low value. His best traits (defense, walks, team friendly contract) aren't as valued in the market.

Rebuilding the bullpen should be one of they priorities of the offseason. Too much mediocre crap out there. We need more power and guys that can get outs reliably.

So, for the offseason, trade Morse to a team looking for 1B/DH help. See if you can get a 4/5 type starter out of it. Or at least a decent prospect.

Sign BJ Upton. Play Harper in RF, Upton in CF, Werth in LF.

Pick up LaRoche's option.
