what's the better way to lose?

nats style - getting blown out in back to back games.

o's style - just have two heartbreakers.

Generally I prefer the close games, but the way the O's lost would have infuriated me.  Anything but a tying HR in the bottom of the 9th by your closer (followed by the same player hitting a HR in extras - ouch).

no seriously.  i know some people who would rather have the heartbreaker b/c it was a close game.

Look at that A's crowd. Down 2 runs but they are still rocking and into the game. Nats fans couldn't even enjoy the game today. Blowout before it even started.

I think if Oakland comes back to win this one... they somehow take care of Verlander tomorrow night.

even after 1-0 it was still loud.  the bottom first when morse struck out, it was up there.

hell, even when it was 4-0, we had bags full and it got pretty noisy.  that was it though.

as much as i love the A's story, a 5:07 start tomorrow would help me tremendously over a 4:07 start time.

really  for 5:07.

There are others who prefer to have their asses handed to them like the Nats did today. They are both losses and both are demoralizing. And one more of either one will eliminate both teams. I can understand the thinking behind at least being close and competitive. It's like choosing between losing a tough 12 round decision or getting knocked the freak out in the first round. Personally I don't get the thinking that it's better to lose the way the Nats did today. Today was a first minute of the first round KO. The other analogy is more suited to uncensored.

PC random question, but who are your college teams?

That puts you in the same class with SF. You two would rather get KO'd early. I'd hate to get into a melee with the two of you in my corner.  :?

Giving up a lead is absolutely sickening, though.  I could almost choose a blowout over that.

Which sport?  Generally, I like the local teams as my college only major sport was lacrosse.

Not really.  I'd much rather have a close game in most instances, but when you're talking giving up a lead vs. getting blown out, I just don't give a crap.

When my teams choke, it freaking enrages me, so it's like choosing between rage and humiliation; lose-lose.

I hear you on losing the lead in the way the birds did tonight. It sucks when the Nats do that crap. But I hate the way today felt. By the middle of the 5th I didn't even want to drink brew anymore.

Yeah, for the most part, I agree with you.  I watch sports for entertainment, and at least there's a thrill in having a close contest.  Takes too much of the fun out of it to have a blowout.

spidey ... i'm not saying in general, i'm saying in these two instances.

sunday night, the o's fans, after waiting through the delay and all that ... had a 2-2 deadlock until the 9th when it just unraveled (by their closer who has been lights out).  then they get monday's win.

tonight, they were on their way to being 2-1 with a chance for series win tomorrow (or at the very least forcing a game 5 on friday if they were to fall tomorrow).  their closer blew his first save.

while, the nationals, got blasted early on on the road on monday (came back a bit, but then got shelled again).

in their first home playoff game since before WWII, the nats shat the bed from inning one.  it wasn't fun by any means, especially for us experiencing our first playoff game ... and it lingered all day.  but we knew it was a loss.

the way the o's lost, i just think that would hurt a bit more.

don't get me wrong, it wasn't a good feeling.  i haven't been this negative all year.  i know the stakes are higher, but today's effort was pathetic.
