This is what I've been saying since day one about this one-game playoff...one bad call is a big freaking deal and a potential black eye for MLB.

This is the worst call I have ever seen.

If the Braves lose, what a way for Chipper to go out.

If you go by the letter of the rule, it should be called an infield fly.

<tinfoil hat on>

MLB had the umps deliberately make a horrible game-changing call to advance the idea of expanded instant replay.

That PLUS the umpires are responsible for the 7.8% unemployment number.   :D

Nationals have a five game series with the umpires as well, it seems.

If that's the case they should've signaled infield fly way sooner than they did.

People should be getting ejected for throwing crap onto the field.

I'm sure that's what they're doing right now.

Chief, the only condition for an infield fly is that an infielder can make a play on the ball without above average effort.

So, by rule, they made the right call.

I wouldn't make it... But they are right by the letter of the book.

As long as you don't think it was the right call, or a good call.  I'm not going to pretend to know the rule inside out.

He had to run halfway in to the outfield. Above average effort.

If the fielder had to run more than about 40 ft, it was a bad call.  (The maximum distance someone would have to travel to catch a ball not on the outfield grass and in the field of play would be roughly 40 ft, give or take)

Infielder started to give way to the outfielder.

Trouble with replay and baseball is, how do you place runners on the bases?  Youll get more days like Mikey Morse's 2 grand slams and one without a bat!

If the Cards turned a double play you better believe the Braves would be crying for the Infield Fly rule.  My only problem is that the call was delayed

Yeah, the call was so damn late that it was a bad call.
