Back-to-back 1pm starts would certainly be quaint.  I might have to put on a zoot suit and a fedora for that.

Anyone want to donate a sweet ticket to dear old Chief?  :halo:

I'm going to have to take the whole day off to watch this now anyway, so I might as well just drive up there and see it for real.

Awful. Simply awful. And we thought it was only to avoid two games on at once. Here's the schedule:

Nats/Cards: 1:00
Reds/Giants: 4:00 (if necessary)
A's/Tigers: 7:30 (if necessary)
Yankees/O's: 7:30

1pm really sucks. Hopefully, we will end up with some later games I can actually attend. At least I already sold my extra pair on Stubhub for a nice profit.

I still expect that a lot of people will be able to take leave from work, as regular season weekday games are well attended. But I am waiting for the dicks who put us in this timeslot to follow it up by complaining that a) there are empty seats in the park; or b) there are too many Cards fans (who picked up the tix from Nats ticket holders who couldn't attend.)

Too bad the O's got spanked by the Yanks. I don't care one way or the other about the O's, but it would be so much better if the Yankees were sent packing.

I think the reasoning is that MLB Network has been slated to show the early game (just like yesterday).  There's no guarantee that the Giants-Reds series or the Tigers-A's series would be taking place, and there's no way in hell M(ajor) L(oser) B(ud) is giving the less desirable time slot to the Yank-mes.  I guess they felt they had no choice but to stick us in that slot.  I have a very accommodating supervisor, but I still feel really bad having to go to him at the last minute to ask for the day off.  A later start might have meant being able to get half a day of work in, but that's tough with a 1pm start.  I feel really bad for those of you who can't make it, and I would be among that group if I were in any of my previous jobs.

Here's your Wednesday lineup:
Cards-Nats 1:07
Giants-Reds* 4:07
Orioles-Yankees 7:37 (of course)
Tigers-As* 9:37

* if necessary

I really hope the O's take the next three games to send the Yank-mes packing so we don't have to worry about playing second-fiddle to them for the rest of the playoffs.

I have a meeting that ends around noon but it's downtown so I should be able to make it. A quick shot from the McPherson Square Metro.

I'll be the geek dressed in business casual. Oh, well. That meeting was originally supposed to be in the afternoon so it could be worse.

I'll be at the game but if both days are 1:00 it's really likely the person I'm going with who bought the tickets will not be able to attend.

First home playoff game and MLB couldn't have screwed us worse. I wanted playoffs to be an opportunity to show our franchise to the nation but looks like that won't happen.

All I can say is "wow".

@AdamKilgoreWP

I'm told the Nats-Cards game at Nats Park on Wednesday will start at 1 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on MLB Network.

If that's true, my tickets are going up on Stubhub tomorrow.

I'm almost cheering for Cardinals today so we get Thursday. Surely MLB wouldn't freak us on times all 4 days...

Is that going to be the same start time for Home Game 2 (Game 4 if necessary)?

I had been dreaming of a crazy, 100% full night game with excitement building all day and a national TV audience.

Now it looks like we'll have a more subdued stadium, middle of day, with a late arriving crowd.

But hey, the Orioles will have an exciting game!!!!

freak you Bud Selig. freak the Yankees. freak Peter Angelos.

I am so sorry for those fans who cannot take a day off work at the last minute.  This scheduling is so unfair to this town, but hey - it's not like it's any surprise that Bud has taken the opportunity to shaft DC once again.  Like so many others, I feel like I'm taking advantage of my boss's niceness by asking for leave like this at the last minute.  But that's how MLB has chosen to act.

Fortunately, my leave was just approved - woohoo!!!!

[...]Now it looks like we'll have a more subdued stadium, middle of day, with a late arriving crowd.[...]

...and a pretty good Cardinals turn-out if we get a lot of Nats STH no-shows (the only drawback to the starting time) - Cardinals supporters travel well.
