Hardball talk via bleacher report

Why are Philly Media and players such a bunch of whiners?

Some blogger or sportscaster complains that our broadcasters are unprofessional for cheering our team.

Wow. Yeah, Bob and FP can get pumped up, but the Phillies announcers are the worst. They are the biggest homers I've ever heard, especially Tom McCarthy. He even makes snide remarks about other teams and their players.
I work with a couple Phils fans who can't stand him because he is such a homer.

Yep. He and Leo Mazzone grew up in the same town in western MD.

Yep, that would be my home town as well, Cumberland.

Am the only one to whom his statement doesn't even make sense?

It's quoted in today's paper too.

Rollins is saying that if the Phillies were "healthy" this year, they would have won the NL East.

But he's obviously a pr*ck.

How about ... "They had a great year.  Congratulations.  Good luck in the playoffs.  I'm looking forward to competing again next year."

Matt Gelb ‏@magelb
Jimmy Rollins on Nats: "That’s great for them. But with us being healthy, you know, they’re still second place. But we weren't."

Jealousy.

Yeah, well if my Aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle.

So if the Fillies get old and break down, they fire half of the coaches to encourage the other coaches to coach harder???

When Steinbrenner fired most of Joe Torre's coaches, it was Von Steingrabber's attempt to get Torre to resign...and to avoid paying Torre for the remaining years on his contract.

How many years does Charlie Manuel have left?

minty, good  point.  If playoff seasons were based on a 5 year average, then we could include the prime of Utley, Rollins, Victorino, Werth / Pence.

We can even give this sort of playoff determination method a name - call it a Rollins Average.

But the Nats would be able to devastate opponents with the prime of Lastings Milledge!

In the meantime, the Red Sox have a bye all the way to the World Series.

As in "say bye to your chances the next few years?"

But then again you probably mean that towards the rest of MLB because the sawks will continue to own the game.
