On one hand, I couldn't care less what players or their parents think as this board is by the fans, for the fans, and we should be able to post critical things about the players when we're frustrated.

On the other hand, I hope someone's dad reads one of ASSCLOWN's "go kill yourself" posts in the GDT and socks him right in the stomach at Nats Park some day.

Great read and I can identify. I have a son who was a very good HS player. He started playing when he was 5 like most Little Leaguers. It's absolutely true that you agonize with your kids on the field, especially if they're pitchers like my son was.

One thing I noticed though was that as he got older I didn't get as nervous or as protective. By the time he was a senior in HS and was playing in big time state tournaments and national travel tournaments, I was kind of over it. So I'm guessing that by the time players get to MLB, they're parents are used to it. But I'm also guessing you never really get over that protective parenting instinct.

BTW, my son's 16 y.o. team played against Bryce Harper's team in a wood bat tournament in Fla. when Bryce was 14 or so (he was playing up age levels). That was the first time I heard of him. Even then his legend was beginning to grow.

If I hadn't met you, I'd really be suspecting that you are in fact Livan Hernandez by now.

Ryan Church's uncle Lurch used to get pissed at people talking trash about our would be ROY if it wasn't for Frank Robinson. A typical post was "Everyone here can EAT A DIK".

I do remember him asking about restaurants in town shortly after the team was moved to DC.

Sometimes he'd reach out via PM to highly rated, premier posters he wanted to talk to.

New credo: no personal criticisms of players. Storen better throw strikes is better expressed as "walks would really hurt the team right now." Did anyone read about the woman who found out tghat her picture was on reeddit because she is sikh and didn't remove her facial hair? No one needs that moment of discovery.

I'm not and never have been one to make personal attacks against players, but if someone is playing poorly or made a bad play, I'll say so.

I seem to recall his starting at that Nats/Os game a number of met up at and tailgated before in Lot 8.  The one with the swarm of bees over the field.

Didn't he post something after the game about having a crappy start?  Perhaps I'm mindfacting.
