The player's parents follow the Nats, too

Matt Kemp doesn't care about college numbers. He has run the count to 3-and-2. Now, my computer is blinking. The tweets are starting. "Storen better throw strikes." I wish I could actually see the faceless who find their courage in 140- character

Just be careful what you write about the Nats. The parents are watching.

On one hand, I couldn't care less what players or their parents think as this board is by the fans, for the fans, and we should be able to post critical things about the players when we're frustrated.

On the other hand, I hope someone's dad reads one of ASSCLOWN's "go kill yourself" posts in the GDT and socks him right in the stomach at Nats Park some day.

Even the "kids" are making 400k and playing a game for a living. However, lots of things are said that have crossed the line. I've done it before.

"Storen better throw strikes" is something that countless fans at the ballpark said, too.

"Storen better throw strikes" is one of the most inoffensive critical phrases I could possibly conceive that one would say about a struggling baseball player.  Good lord.

Agreed.

If the basic criticism is too difficult, they can give up the massive salaries and go play men's league baseball on the weekend and have a regular job.

Now, some insults do go to far. I try to avoid them as does 95% of WNFF.

So, Storen doesn't have to throw strikes... Or he doesn't know that he better throw strikes? really, that's the one that is picked to illustrate crazy fans on Twitter?

On the White Sox forum I post on, we had one player whose mom not only read the forum, but was a regular poster. Her username was even "<Player Name>sMom".

And I know that if I were on the Nationals, my mom would be posting in gamethreads here commenting that I look so skinny on TV, and somebody should make me a sandwich.

Not to get lost on this thread...

That was a great article.

I don't know if it is because I am expecting my first child (son) any day no...or because I am a few glasses of wine deep...or if because I have watched too much bad baseball since this team got here but whatever it is that made me fairly emotional.

F.P. said he got a little emotional reading it as well. You're not alone.

What an article... very well written.

Sportsnyan said some pretty foul things about Mike O'Connor and Collin Balester knowing full well that parents and/or other extended family were reading everything.  Both sets of parents handled it rather well I thought.  I guess they understood the MDS maxim, "if you don't want to get punched, don't get into the tough guy interwebz ring"

Great write-up.

I don't agree with the twitter remarks (really, "throw strikes" for a guy that had struggled to throw them is a negative comment?)...but overall a good piece.

Jason Bergmann's mom posted secretly here for a while.  We all are familiar with Colin Balester's father in law Spinman, as well as his wife who would post here from time to time.  Mike O'Connor's dad would post here sometimes.  I suspect however that most players' relatives that read the forum lurk without posting.

The minor league section here in particular probably draws quite a few friends and family.

Not surprised, my aunt knows someone in the Nat's minor league system and we text her when he gets a mention on TV or at a game.
