Nats have come back from a lot more than three. But we sure didn't need those walks.

Oh well ... at least we split

wtf is he doing?

It wasn't meant to be with Lannan. Detwiler will have to clinch playoff spot tomorrow.

Doubleheaders are almost always a split so this isn't a shock. I'm just glad we were able to hold on for game 1

That last pitch was pretty filthy.

I thought Lannan had turned a corner.  I was wrong.  I really wanted him to not be the "get's off his game and walks a ton then loses his control and gives up big hits" Lannan of old.  Maybe some things don't change.

Beckett is a guy they should pound for 5-6+ runs. Seems like they are just content with the split and put the bats away.

What are the actual stats on this? All I could find quickly:

Quote
In a paper in American Statistician, Michael Goodman makes the claim that doubleheaders are swept more often than they are split. The Elias Sports Bureau, however, found that doubleheaders are swept only 26.2% of the time.

8 baserunners through 3.1 IP, not going to get it done. He'll be gone quickly.

Now a RISP for top of lineup

It's also disclaimed as "dubious", and "citation needed".

This is not reliable either but it appears someone researched a number of years and found > 50% are swept, which is what you'd expect unless the teams were evenly matched, which is almost never.

I don't buy that at all. Most are splits, by a lot.

He deserved that one. Hit by the #8 hitter and a HBP to the guy in front of Kemp. Bad pitching

freak it, put Wang in the game. This team obviously doesn't give a freak about this game anymore.

And people think I get caught up with SF? You're actually trying to debate stats with him.
