So...pardon my ignorance, but this is our roster into the void, right? Like we can't clean up the Cards and then switch things around for the NLCS?

Anyone else a big surprised they dropped DeRosa?

He's been red hot lately.

I read that DeRosa will still probably travel to StL with the team, so hopefully we'll see Wilson and Stras milling about in the dugout as well. Tough break for Lannan but his season may not be over yet.

Most of them will travel with the team to guard against an injury.

Maybe next round. In the right kind of game -- a lefty-heavy team -- I trust Lannan more than I trust Detwiler.

Good.  Except for Garcia for the 5th starter, that is the roster that brought us to the playoffs.  No need to get fancy, and no sentimental picks.

I thought we were only throwing out 4 starters, with Gio pitching twice if need be?

Right.  We dropped the 5th starter (Lannan) from our August 25 man roster and added Garcia, who was not on the 25 man at that point.  We could do that because he was in the organization on 8/31 and H-Rod was on the DL

I'm co-opting this thread to talk about tomorrow's lineup.

Can the trainers find out who has strep and who doesn't and build the lineup accordingly.  Harper had a temperature over 100 degrees a couple of days ago.  It's very difficult to play baseball (or do anything) with a fever like that.  Since strep is highly contagious and the team is in constant and frequent contact with each other, he's probably not the only one sick.

Find the players who are least sick and go from there.  :'(

the problem is, if you advance, they are out of the next series as well.  No way they DL Harper.

Isn't strep throat the kind of thing only teenagers and kids get?  I'm not sure Harper has infected anyone else

Don't DL him.  Just don't start him.  Strep lasts for less than a week so all we need to do is get through this series.

you need to dl him to bring someone on. Or are you saying he should stay home the next 2 days, or hang with Strasburg?

I'm saying start Bernadina (who presumably doesn't have strep) and not start Harper.  Do the comparison.  Is Harper with strep better than a healthy Bernadina because, right now, Harper is playing very badly and I'm assuming the strep has something to do with it.

Stammen was also supposedly "under the weather" but was asked today (postgame) if he had strep and he insisted he doesn't.  I don't fully believe him.

I kind of agree that Bernie should be in the line up v. Lohse, but I might bench Morse.

We need someone good behind Desmond who can drive him in. Espinosa is a black hole in the 6 spot. He's wasted so many opportunities in this series. We gotta replace him.
