Gotta be kidding me

If that's true, tell your catcher to sell it a little better.

The Cubs announcers were saying that. That it needed to be better acted by their catcher.

Then again, its not like JZ had a much better excuse when he hit Hamels. So don't act all high and mighty when the Cubs use the same type of excuse.

I know we played the Cubs in this series but I honestly cannot be sure that the Cubs played us.

This series has been really good for my wallet as I haven't had to do much grocery shopping. I've been eating a lot of Papa Johns lately.

Ths 85th win by this year's Nats pulls them even with the 1915 and 1927 editions - here's where they stand, in terms of gross wins (I know it was a shorter season back then), with other winning Nats clubs:

99 - 1933 [pennant winner]
96 - 1925 [pennant winner]
94 - 1930
93 - 1932
92 - 1924 [World Series winner], 1931
91 - 1912
90 - 1913
87 - 1945
86 - 1969
85 - 1915, 1927, 2012

---

THIS DAY WITH THE '05 OVERACHIEVERS: Tuesday 6th September 2005 brought a reversion to form, a 5-2 home loss to the Marlins...record now 72-67...http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=250906120

---

Blasted AngelO's need to stop winning...hopeful sign when they levelled at 6 in the 8th inning but that was that....

last night was damn fun. I've never been at a game where benches cleared. I had no idea what was going on but it was so awesome.

Watching the replay on MLB.com of the benches clearing and for some reason they have the Cubs feed. It's so annoying. You can tell how agitated the announcers are that Quirk got ejected and not Bo.

The second one is awesome. Morse, Edwin, and some one else on the bench were amped.

Michael Morse has a larger combined body weight than a third of the Cubs expanded roster. Why would you want to mess with him?

Chicago Sun-Times has this view of the game:

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/14987135-419/cubs-swept-away-by-nationals-in-fight-filled-game.html

(Fairly level-headed)

...and this pessimistic view of the Cubs' future:

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/14986777-419/cubs-will-be-hard-pressed-to-duplicate-nationals-rebuilding.html

"Beyond that, one baseball insider in Washington for this series looked at the Cubs’ young players and questioned the comparisons to the Nats’ core, even a few years ago. 'I know they’re young, but I don’t see the talent,' he said"

Someone should mention (to the Cubs) our 11 to 10 (not sure I have the final score right) loss to the Atlanta Braves after having a tremendous lead.  The Cubs need to know you don't stop playing the game.

That huge blown lead to the Braves does appear to be a lesson learnt:

Nats overall record this season - 85-52 (.620)
Nats record since that Braves loss - 32-14 (.696)

From that article:

Quote
‘‘I was in the middle with everybody, trying to break everybody up,’’ Clevenger said. ‘‘You’re up 7-2, Lendy Castillo is pitching, it’s 3-0. You don’t swing 3-0 in that situation. But things happen.’’

 total indictment of castillo's ability to throw haaaaaaa

Didn't they put five runs on us in a hurry in the first game? They wanted Werth to do what, walk? For Harper?

Ridiculous.

It's hard to believe we've played 46 games since then.
I did check.   :-[
Seems like it happened just a few days ago.

Oh I guess Sean Burnett was pissed too.

Always said Burnett reminded me of my neighbor as a kid.   He's "different".   He may not be the biggest (Jackson/Morse) dude in the crowd but he's the one I'd have my eye on when the crap breaks loose.    He's a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic.

Yea he looks like he'd go ape crap in a fight. The way he was jawing at Corpas/Clevenger was fierce. You could see the fire in his eyes.

I think I'm going to GIF the part when Ejax was being held back by Knorr.
