Braves win 5-1. Medlen has been lights out. Braves know they need a win today. Detwiler struggles in the 6th and the bullpen is overworked

Headed back to the park tonight. A sweep while losing to Det would crush the Braves. But I'm not feeling as good about this game for some reason. I should probably be more confident at this point in the season.

I'm really worried about our bullpen, but I think Medlen is a mirage.

This game is completely gravy. I'm excited, but not stressed about it.

Don't be bringing that negativity into my GDT before the game starts.

19.10 - Mets-Rockies (Harvey vs Francis)
21.40 - Diamondbacks-Marlins (Miley vs LeBlanc)

Sweep the leg...do you have a problem with that Mr. Lawrence?

Thoughts on Det being a sacrificial lamb if he struggles?  Yes 8 games would be awesome, but this bullpen needs a rest.  Or maybe he can give them a CG win.  That would be icing.

I'm worried about our bullpen's long-term usefulness.  Storen's going to HAVE to pitch well and our 40-man roster in September is going to have to eat alot of innings which will probably lead to some regular season losses but should give us fresh arms for the post-season.

I'm in that ballpark but I was thinking of him pitching 8 innings and being in the lead.    A CG win  ...   holy moly!

there is an off day tomorrow and an off day Monday. It's all hands on deck tonight.  I could see trying to bypass Clippard, but short of that, you will see everyone available.

...and those off days are a break the Braves don't have - they're off to San Francisco and San Diego for away series tomorrow. Their next day off is a week from tomorrow (30th). It'd be really nice to get a good-sized early lead on Medlen tonight and force them into their bullpen.

Kris Medlen's starts have been against Miami (sans Stanton), Houston, the Mets and San Diego.  That's hardly a who's who list of power teams, certainly not power offenses.

Interesting.  No Uggla, McCann or Bourn in the lineup today for the Braves...

Finally going to a game! I will be heading to the Metro at 5:30 and will be there hopefully before the first pitch. My father and brother will be in tow. I love seeing National Det pitch.

Also we will be using the last of our "flex tickets" so we're hoping we can get seats in RF Baseline Reserve. I have not sat behind the Nats dugout all season (I usually cheap out and go for the 400s) so I am hoping for a great view :)

I will be trying to drown out that AWFUL chop!

Bourn and McCann are lefties, so that makes sense.

It's the time of year when old guys get the odd extra day off, especially with the Braves flying cross country from here.
