Let 'em hate...it's just good to finally not be the division's b*tch anymore. When they all play us now, they better bring their own damn lunch money instead of taking ours!

Check out Jonathan Mahler's article in Bloomberg.com today:  "Washington's Annoying Consensus on the Nats" in which he concludes. "So bring on the extended postseason. And somebody, anybody, please beat the Nationals."

Don't know if he's being entirely serious, but wow, even from a New York perspective, this is pretty JEALOUS!

Mets fans will always be better people.  They could have 120 wins and the people of New York will care more about what Derek Jeter had for lunch than the Mets.  Will be the red headed, bastard child to the Yankees until the end of time.

He fairly well was roasted in the comments though, some very well written, and many reeking of Natitude.

I distinctly remember a time when the Mets had less than 120 wins and they OWNED New York. Steinbrenner couldn't stand it. He kept buying free agent after free agent, but his Yankees couldn't finish in first place. I strongly suspect that the real reason he eventually got Dwight Gooden and Darryl Strawberry to sign with his team was that he desperately wanted New Yorkers to think of them as Yankees instead of Mets.

The manager during this brief run when the Mets had both the talent and swagger of John McGraw's Giants? Some guy named Davey. Our manager vaguely resembles him.

Quote from: Angry, Bitter, life-hating, Phillie Fan
Nats will go down in flames, probably in the first round... and then everyone, especially Nats fans will always wonder... WHAT IF their ownership wasn't so stupid. Perfect storm... Nats lose in the 1st round, then next year in the first month Strasburg's arm blows up and he's done for another year... maybe two.

We all get what they're trying to do... but they went about it so stupidly. If they were only going to pitch him 160 innings, why didn't they slow him down when the Nats already had a large enough lead to ensure they were going to make the playoffs? They've been way ahead of nearly everyone since the All Star break. How about pitching him every 10th game instead of every 5th... only allowing him to go 5 innings at most. I'm no pitching coach, but they definitely could have done it some other way to ensure he was available to pitch in the playoffs. Poor planning... and now it's going to cost them.

I can't even believe the writer of this article comes out and makes the statement they are going to win it all... talk about stupid.
