For you all that live in the DC-metro area (or DC sports market area) are people more excited about the Skins and RG3, or the Nats and this pennant race?

Going back to this discussion, you can see here that the Skins - and the freaking BALTIMORE Ravens - are getting more love on our local news for meaningless preseason games versus completion of a four-game sweep and the best record in MLB.  Sigh...

The Shark really is a great 4th OF. I mean I don't want to sound like I'm bashing him, but I'm glad he won't really be starting unless its a spot start. I could never rely on him starting all the time. Now that we have an OF set, he is perfect for coming off the bench, pinch hitting, or spot starting. It's his calling.

That one week stretch in July probably made him much richer in arbitration.

LOL...The bimbo doing sports on Channel 9 was - of course - live in Buffalo and barely had enough time to stop drooling over RGIII and quickly mention the Nats score at the end of her sportscast.  No highlights, nothing.

Cubs beat Reds.  We're 3 games up for best record in the majors, ahead of both the Reds and Rangers.

Local news blows anyway.  As Artie from The Larry Sanders Show once pointed out, they cover the most mindless bullcrap: "'Three kittens fell down a well' - who gives a crap?"

Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 69th win, each season:

2012 - 9th August (112th match of season)
2005 - 31st August (133rd match)
2011 - 13th September (146th match)
2007 - 23rd September (156th match)
2006 - 25th September (156th match)
2010 - 3rd October (162nd match - final win of season)
---
2008 - finished 59-102
2009 - finished 59-103

---

THIS DAY WITH THE '05 OVERACHIEVERS: On Tuesday 9th August 2005, Nats open four-city away swing with a win at Houston (!), 6-5...record now 59-53...http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=250809118

---

Attendance 14,417 - none of the four matches in this series broke 17k.

---

...and with this result now in the books, the Nationals' record against the Astros as a National League club is now complete: 30-26 overall, 17-10 home, 13-16 away.

I worked at a pool where a kid lifeguard pulled that trick so he could get off early.  Got busted and sentenced to community service.
