You let Gio go 117 and JZ not even get to 90.  That makes a lot of sense

It does actually, but it doesn't mean we have to like it.

Two years removed from Tj surgery and you want to keep him fresh for the postseason. I am OK with him not getting to play longer (though I wish Davey would let him) if it means he will still be this good at the end of the season.

This.

yeah...and for what? tyler moore struck out.

waste of an out.

The result doesn't mean it was bad logic.

But it also means the bullpen has to work more, of which the side effects showed in July.
But JZ is not the one to eat up innings this year. Use Edwin and Gio as pen savers, they are healthy and will last longer. Znn got shut down at 160ish innings last year, so pushing him to lots of long inning games could be damaging and tiring, compared to a pitcher who pitched 200+ innings their previous season.

The one thing I really don't like about the new 2-wild card system is that we are still only 4 games up from playing a sudden death game against someone we've vastly outperformed.

Seems like 90 is going to be his cap until the postseason. If they were going to let him go deeper, seems like it would have been tonight.

Make Dibble a special consultant!

And make Dusty Baker the manager.  Then hire Kerry Wood and Mark Prior as the pitching coaches.

The rule of thumb is 30 inning increases, so he's already on pace to get a way bigger workload this year.

It would be nice if our bullpen would make the 7th, 8th and 9th very boring tonite.
