Absolutely. Football is definitely king in America. I'd say one of the only places that isn't true is Atlanta (Braves I'd say are more popular than Falcons, and UGA Football reigns there). Obviously St. Louis. I'd say New York/Boston is a toss-up same with Philly. Although I'm not totally sure on that one.

Braves are marginally popular, really.  They wouldn't be if they got bad.  You're probably right, though.  I wasn't even thinking of Atlanta.  I would have named the same cities as you plus maybe Phoenix, where the Suns are fairly popular and the Cardinals pretty much lost everyone with their many years of suckitude.

New York is pretty even, Boston is a baseball town (maybe even somewhat of a hockey town), but Philly is definitely football-first.  Don't be fooled by the Phillies' recent success, Phillies fans are truthfully not that loyal.

What kind of wood is best?  Morning?

I prefer faux for little things likes doubles. Denizens of the lava lamp thread likely prefer morning.

Zmann has much better control than that, but I can think of why he would intentionally hit Moore.  Probably slipped out of his hands.

The Braves attendance isn't usually very good but people all over the Southeast love the Braves. One place you would think might be baseball first is Cincinnati, but I'm pretty sure even up there is Bengals first. I go to school at UK in Lexington, KY about 40 minutes south of Cincinnati, and a lot of people come from the Cincy metro area, and they generally follow the Bengals much more closely than they do the Reds.

I think baseball is mostly a generational thing, and sadly it seems to be in the decline with its interest within my generation. (I'm 20, and about to start my Junior year at UK).

Totally agree.  I'm 23 myself - it's sad how many people around our age seem to swear off baseball as being "too boring."  It's a contemplative game with so many nuances, definitely not boring.

So, Bryce is sitting due to his mental mistake last night letting the potential winning run advance to second on his throw to 3rd.

Good job Davey.

From what the older generations say, DC has potential as a baseball town.

Having two of the biggest future stars in baseball isn't hurting that reinstatement.

Exactly. Most people in our generation, just lack patience. I'd still say overall the MLB has a greater following than the NBA.

It takes more than a day to understand, therefore many ppl don't want an undertaking that strenuous.

DC likes winning teams (with the exception of the skins).  If you win, DC will support very well.

No offense to young folks, especially not those here, but I think the plethora of technology entertainment options and endless programming choices support short attention spans.

Man, the offense is really AWOL for this series.  No margin for error for Jordan.

It's all about TV and if you had to invent a sport for TV, it would be football. There's even a 30 second break between plays so you can replay.

Basketball is better on TV unless you can get very close seats. And who can afford those.

Baseball on the other hand is better in person, IMO.

And so is hockey.

Lucas Harrell looks legitimately awesome tonight.

Hopefully the bats turn it around, especially with the Giants coming up.
