I'd say techincally, Trout's was better.  Bernadina's was bigger because it literally did, in fact, save the game.

Somebody on the Marlins had the #2 Gem, but the announcer basically said let's get to the one that matters and blew it off :lmao:

They kept hinting that. It was a situational catch so it was much more important. It was still just as good without the whole arm over the railing maneuver.

:lmao: I've been composing in my head the past few minutes a song for Bernadina based on a Priest song.  What I got so far:

When you feel safe
When you feel warm
That's when he'll rise
That's when he'll crawl (need a better line here)

Gliding on mist
Hardly a sound
Making the catch
Sad 'stros abound

In the dead of night... Shark bites.  Shark bites.
In the dead of night... SHARK BIIIIIIIIIITES, Awwww shark bites!

Listening on the radio in the car when bernie made the catch.  Sounds like an awesome catch.

Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 67th win, each season:

2012 - 7th August (110th match of season)
2005 - 26th August (128th match)
2011 - 11th September (144th match)
2007 - 17th September (150th match)
2006 - 22nd September (153rd match)
2010 - 26th September (156th match)
---
2008 - finished 59-102
2009 - finished 59-103

---

THIS DAY WITH THE '05 OVERACHIEVERS: Sunday 7th August 2005 the Padres completed their sweep of the Nats at RFK with a 3-nil clean-sheeting by Jake Peavy who limited the Nats to five hits and drove in one of the Padres' runs himself...record now 58-53...http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=250807120

 I was just thinking about what the radio call was like on that play.  Gotta wait for the archive to go up, though.

Also, :lmao: at Morse doing the shark chomp

The radio call was brilliant, was listening at work and couldn't wait to see it after I heard the call

Braves lost. Now when we fail to get the sweep, it'll still be a three game lead

I actually agree, just end the game now.  The offense isn't suddenly going to "get it" tonight.  We're tearing through the bullpen for a game that we have no chance of winning.

And I will say no chance.  No qualifications...

Just watched the highlight videos on MLB.com (For the whole game: http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=23720011&topic_id=8879974&c_id=mlb&tcid=vpp_copy_23720011&v=3 . For just Bernie's catch (includes the radio call) : http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=23719217&topic_id=11493214&c_id=mlb&tcid=vpp_copy_23719217&v=3 )

What a catch! Both the MASN guys and the radio announcers went NUTS, just as I did! That was an amazing play. Glad to have the shark around!

And thank goodness Espi bailed us out of that game. Hopefully this is the beginning of another hot streak for him :)

I love that song. (I never listen to it). But it's the Hawk Harrelson of fight/team songs. so bad it makes me laugh.

I am speechless.  Bernadina's catch has to be one of the best of all time!  And this team this year is something other-worldly.

Yes, they've scored but this is the worst offensive performance of the season, hands down.

From the MASN angle at first I had a tiny doubt he caught it cleanly (you know how players will try to fake that they caught a ball in some situations), but seeing the second angle you can see he caught it cleanly, made sure he had it with a minor adjustment from his free hand, and then displayed it high and proud. I was really relieved.

So now at worse we will tie this series, best we'll sweep, but I think we'll go 3-4.

With the win, the Nats also secured the season series win over the Astros.

With the win, the Nats also secured the season series win over the Astros.

...for only the second time ever (Nats took 5 of 7 from the Astros in 2007 - including taking 3 of 4 at Enron, the only time prior to this season they've won more than one match there in a series).

Ironically, despite all that...including the first two of this series the Nats are 28-26 all time vs Houston (17-10 at RFK/Nats Park, 11-16 at Enron).

lol BBTN is questioning if Bernadina's catch was better than Trout's vs the Orioles. One of the commentators wouldn't answer but said Trout is better than Bernadina (no crap).

So they have a poll on ESPN to see which is better. Obviously Trout's is going to win but Bernadina's catch is 10x better.

Here's the poll with accompanying BBTN video:
