Down with the NCAA

I'm not particularly a Miami fan but I hope they kick the NCAA's ass.

More hypocrisy.

I'm not sure what the answer is, but it is not the current setup.

How long until the major conferences just leave the ncaa?

Not sure. Risking a lawsuit with Miami is the wrong move. I wouldn't be surprised if the NCAA ousts Emmert and tries to settle with Miami, ramps back their ineffective infractions committee and just tries to survive.

An article about Missy Franklin and her struggles with amateurism.

I'll probably start a thread just about NCAA amateurism and hypocrisy, but I don't have time today.

What a trick.   Take a neighbor kid, who happens to be an Olympian, to a concert and get back stage passes and a sky suite due to the commotion on the floor.    "I'd do it for the children."    I would, however, try to talk them out of a Bieber concert.

as much as I despise the NCAA, it's her stupid decision to remain amateur- no one is forcing her (unlike football and basketball players her sport isn't requiring her to sit out before going pro) and she's going to compete in a non-revenue sport where she may end up driving a tiny bit of revenue to her school, so it's not like they're being hypocritical and making money off of her

Well, she was unable to hire an agent so they couldn't tell how much money she would have gotten from any endorsement deals. I can't tell how much that impacted her decision to remain amateur.

I agree that this isn't similar to football athletes where they are used to make millions -- this is a non-revenue athlete getting screwed by rules made to control revenue-generating athletes. It's similar to the Minnesota wrestler in the article I posted recently.

she could have hired an agent- she just wouldn't have been able to swim as an amateur- she made a choice that has consequences, but nobody forced her hand or strong armed her

Miami already has issues. I love the Hogs, but when Arkansas can walk into Miami and take a 5* running back and a 4* guard, you know the U has fallen on hard times.

I hope Miami burns and the flames consume Frank Haith. Hate Missouri and would love to see them affected in whatever way possible. Having to fire their coach would be humorous.

As bad as that may seem it can't be nearly as bad as having a son that likes boy bands.  :smh:

lol. Miami getting burned for what every SEC school does. Only difference is no SEC booster has turned rat... yet.

Floodgates have been open on Miami recruits for a while. Pay their handlers, pay the kids families, they'll toss a couple hats around and select your school.

This happened at Nebraska's spring game today.  Pretty cool to be there for this.
