Yep.

Yep.

Agreed.

That's why I'm baffled by your "what?"

I'm asking "What?" because you're questioning the Rizzo blame.

Anyway, no point in discussing this. Good win.

i wanted to keep willingham, but if we were going to trade him, get a better package than what we got in return.

Where would u put him in the field?  Laroche is left handed and provides better defense than Morse.

Right. Because it wasn't Rizzo's decision to trade Willingham. That came from above as a salary dump.

... You don't think we'd be better with Willingham over Lombo/Moore/Morse in LF?

add up their numbers... they don't touch what Willingham has produced this year.

Do I think we'd have more wins? No.

Oh. Thought you meant for the package itself.

Rizzo traded the Hammer before he signed Laroche.

No, sorry. I actually can't defend the package Rizzo got back for Hammer. No one can.

Yeah but that would still be a predominately right handed lineup

We also got Alex Meyer out of that. And I'm pretty happy with LaRoche/Morse.

...and Brian Goodwin

you could have Willingham - Harper - Morse w/ LaRoche at 1B

or you do Morse - Harper - Werth w/ Dunn at 1B

or Willingham - Harper - Morse w/ Dunn at 1B

Hard to say who we'd have on the roster if Laroche was never signed and Hammer stayed, though.

Do I think we'd have more wins? No.

So even though he's got about 40+ more RBI's and 15+ more HR's than the LF three headed monster... he somehow wouldn't have lead to more wins?

Agree to disagree on that one.

Well, you definitely made a better case than hammondsnats. I'll accept defeat and say we might have 1 or 2 more wins w/ Willingham in the lineup.

Morse's clubhouse/dugout presence might = 1 or 2 wins, though.

it's not worth three page discussion...

i like rizzo more than most on here, i was just pointing out he has his flaws.  nobody is perfect, but i hope he can correct some of the holes this team has before the deadline.

Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 58th win, each season:

2012 - 25th July (97th match of season)
2005 - 4th August (108th match)
2011 - 16th August (120th match)
2007 - 23rd August (128th match)
2006 - 2nd September (135th match)
2010 - 4th September (136th match)
2008 - 16th September (151st match)
2009 - 3rd October (161st match)

---

TODAY WITH THE '05 OVERACHIEVERS: Monday 25th July 2005 was a travel day; they would open a six-match away trip (Atlanta/Florida) the following day...record 55-44.

---

This is the fourth time the Nats have swept an away series from the Mets - earlier table-runnings:

13th-15th September 2005
24th-26th September 2007
12th-15th September 2011 [4-match series]

We need one more win and we will match the 2008 and 9 season total for victories. We are also tied for the best record over .500 at 19 wins. And with 5 games to go in JULY. Wow!!!

Mets Argue in Dugout After Loss

Quote from: espn.com
NEW YORK -- New York Mets left-handed reliever Tim Byrdak apologized to catcher Josh Thole after the two got into an argument in the dugout following Washington Nationals first baseman Adam LaRoche's two-out, two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning on Wednesday afternoon.

Prior to allowing the homer, Byrdak wanted to throw a 2-2 curveball, but Thole was told to call for a fastball from the bench. Byrdak shook Thole off twice, but the catcher continued to put down the sign for a fastball.

Byrdak threw the fastball. Unfortunately, it was right down the heart of the plate -- instead of outside where Thole was set up -- and LaRoche drilled it deep into the right-field seats for his 18th homer of the season to give the Nationals a 5-1 lead.

Byrdak appeared to gesture toward Thole and say something after the ball was hit. He was pulled from the game after the homer, and the two proceeded to have a conversation in the dugout. Byrdak thought it was Thole's call, but once he learned it came from the bench, he turned his ire toward pitching coach Dan Warthen and the two proceeded to having a jawing match of their own. At one point, third baseman David Wright came over to see what was going on...

:lmao:

I'm an idiot.   I should have DVR'ed it.  Then I could watch it when I want and FF through the commercials.

Feel bad for you that you didn't.  I had the tv on in my office, but can't wait to re-watch the DVR this evening.
