THIS DAY WITH THE '05 OVERACHIEVERS: Wednesday 6th July 2005 at RFK, Glavine outduels Livan (ending the latter's string of 11 straight winning decisions) in a 5-3 Mets victory...record now 51-33...http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=250706120.

---

Nats lose, Mystics lose, Orioles win...just a bad evening all round. Big Metro issues too, with a 'disabled train' (actually a derailed train, according to some people I talked to) at the north end of the Green line and single-tracking at that line's southern end - all evening, both before and after the matches - took a bit longer than usual to get home. Good thing there were only 28,951 at the ballpark, I guess.

---

So Strasburg lost again...while the day before that, the Nats chased and ultimately hung a no-decision on a Giants pitcher widely touted for the Cy Young. These things happen...even the '27 Yankees lost 44...and after that Giants series I suppose we were due for a letdown...live and fight another day.

That was a crappy game.  Shut down on offense by a rookie pitcher (who was very impressive) and then our ace was hammered by Tyler Colvin (who was also very impressive - one long home run to right and then a one-handed swing producing a line drive homer).

Gio on the mound next and then JZ.  I think Jeff Francis is going for the Rockies today.  This is a series the Nats should win with the Rockies being basically in disarray.

Brutal high temp tomorrow, they should move the start time back to a night game.

Just like the game in Atlanta last weekend, you can thank FOX for monopolizing the 7:00-10:00 window.

I don't understand the connection. Is today's afternoon game nationally televised?

No, but FOX has exclusive rights to the 7:00-10:00 window, forcing other teams to do afternoon games.
