Well I like the guy regardless. I'm not worried about him being too ****y. We've sucked for so long in basketball in this city...I'm not going to let that make me get all crappy. I mean geez guys...if we all the sudden became the New York Yankees of the NL East and we had a pitcher that was talking smack - would you get all wishy-washy and wish he would tone down his rhetoric? Not me. Â
I'm not saying he should tone it down or that I dont like him. All I'm saying is it seems forced. Like he got together with some marketing people and they told him to say outrageous things and talk about himself like he is the greatest thing ever. Sportsfan said it was basically a new thing for him to be doing this as well.
It looks like he is trying too hard to make people say "That Gilbert Arenas. He's something else."
When Will Ferrell was the greatest thing ever a couple of years ago, he (or other people) started to think that anything he did was funny. He would go on talk shows and just do stupid not funnny stuff and hosts would sit there and uncomfortably force laughter because hey, its Will Ferrell, it must be funny even though I don't think so.
Its also like the kid who goes to college and tries to assume a whole new "cool" identity.
Gilbert talks a lot and reporters here are like the talk show hosts with Will Ferrell as a guest.
He doesnt seem good at this whole new personna he is trying out. It doesnt seem natural. The longer it goes, the more he is going to have to find new material
