The Caps' PA announcer is annoying even when watching the game on TV.

The pregame graphic on the video board last night referred to the visitors as the "Philiadelphia Flyers." D'oh.

Personally I think the PA, jumbotron, and Red Rockers should all go away.  And cans of Molson should be a dollar.

I like the big HDTVs, although I disagreed with the DC City Council paying for it.  I'm also a fan of the Red Rockers, the Nats would do well to upgrade the Nats Pack with that sort of talent.  Overall the Caps do a lot of things right, just the noise level is unbearable.

The Caps repeatedly displayed a decibel meter on the big screen while cranking up the loudspeaker volume, how dumb is that, they're not measuring crowd noise they're just showing how loud their audio system can be.  I had free tickets last night and there's no chance I'd pay money to see a game there until they turn down the volume.  All night we had to yell ito hear the person next to us.  The worst was during intermission when they still had the sound at full volume, there's no game going on, I'd like to speak with the people I came with.

they need to stop doing to decibel meter thing. they started it last year in the playoffs and it was kinda cool to see how loud it could get. its going to be played out if they do it every game, particularly for a team that is was 1-5-1 playing against a team that was 2-5

The decibel meter works when it's measuring pure crowd noise, like at the old Cap Centre. But having it measure how loud they can turn up the volume of a recording of a siren is pretty gay.

In a moment of lucidity, I seem to recall the decibel meter at the Cap Centre.

The flashing lights went off went it hit 100, but that was pure crowd noise, Robin Ficker an 17,999 friends.

Off topic, did you see the show where Isiah Thomas set up Ficker?

That's funny stuff, I shook hands with Ficker before game 3 last October, one of my personal heroes.

The elbow cost him.   It was a pretty good shot to the head.

Was Ovechkin always this bad when handling the puck?

I was in a similar thought pattern when he broke across the blue line  ...   one on three  ..   and lost the puck.   I think he's making poor decisions and he's gettin' old.   Stuff you can pull off as a young man doesn't work as well after banging around for almost 8 seasons in the NHL.

NBC said they're gonna talk about Ovie after the break.   Insight perhaps ?
