We really need to beat these Birds.  They are in a real funk.  The offense is among the major league leaders in home runs but has been struggling without RF Nick Markakis who's on the DL.  According to the Post today, the O's haven't had a hit with runners in scoring position in 4 games and were shut out by the Mets on consecutive days this week.

They ought to have The Wire night at OPACY sometime.  Maybe sponsored by the Baltimore Sun.  They could have made up interviews, a snort the first base line contest, and maybe a contest for who can stuff the pockets of a politician the fastest.

This is the bragging rights series.  Losing the first series at home sucked, but if we win this one, no one cares.

Nats have won the away leg of the Parkway Series only once:

2005 - did not play
2006 - W1-L2
2007 - W3
2008 - W1-L2
2009 - W1-L2
2010 - L3
2011 - W1-L2

Aggregate W7-L11

...time for that to change....

This is a grudge match that goes back to 1954 when the STL Browns moved into Washington's territory...on the strength of Hoffberger money. Clark Griffith was merely a founder of the AL, HoF, great pitcher in the old National League, and leader of the NL players who chose to make the new AL.

Note: one weekend around 1958, Paul ('the spit") Richard, manager of the Baltimore team, persuaded the umpires to full-body search Pedro Ramos, the Nats starting pitcher. Found nothing, but Pete lost his temper, lost his control, and the sewer-sucking team from Balmer won.

Please let's avoid hammonds doing game threads this weekend. It's sickening to have opponent team's fans handling that aspect of the board.

I nominate spidernat to create an Orioles GameDayThread!  Perhaps a theme based on the upcoming "The Amazing Spider-Man"?

I saw the Paul Richards vs Pedro Ramos "event". It was on TV in Washington.

Hoffberger vs Clark Griffith? As Casey would say, you can look it up.

"The bush-league Baltimore Orioles", as we were taught to call them. Fans at Memorial Stadium used to wave "crying towels" at opposing pitchers who were pulled. Bush league stuff. (And in Warshnin, that's pronounced "bush lig")
