Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 39th win, each season:

2005 - 15th June (66th match of season)
2012 - 20th June (66th match)
2011 - 24th June (76th match)
2010 - 9th July (87th match)
2006 - 16th July (93rd match)
2007 - 18th July (94th match)
2008 - 1st August (109th match - this win, at home over the Reds, snapped a 9-match losing streak)
2009 - 8th August (111th match)

...so despite the four-match losing streak the current Nats haven't lost all that much ground to the '05 Overachievers...whose torrid pace at this time (20-6 in the month of June, 23-5 from 2nd June through 3rd July) has about two weeks left to run.

---

THIS DAY WITH THE '05 OVERACHIEVERS: Monday 20th June 2005, the Nats opened a series at Pittsburgh with a 7-4 win, with Livan going to 10-2...record now 41-29...http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=250620123

---

Wish we could have lit up that kid pitcher some more last night....

ATTENDANCE at this match: 27,485

Marquis De Sade came closest to picking the actual attendance in the latest YNOT Guessing Game thread with 27,135.

...our best Wednesday turn-out of the season thus far, edging the Mets visit of two weeks previously by 150.

Making tonight our best Thursday turn-out would be a bit difficult since our home opener was on a Thursday (40,907)...best non-Opening Day Thursday attendance thus far has been 32,096 for the Mets finale on 7th June (a weekday afternoon match at that!).

Average attendance is now 29,480/fixture...still 475 ahead of the 2008 record for Nats Park.

That's not what post #432 says - at least not they way they are numbered on my screen. What you are referencing is #433. I'm confused.

Every time OC calls them "matches" I giggle a little bit.

I'm not really sure why ...

Maybe because everybody knows baseball has games and cricket has matches. ;)

They had no hits after the first? Wow..

Yeah, I went to the game last night.  We arrived a little late - in the middle of the top of the first.  I'm glad it wasn't the near the end of the bottom of the first - we would have missed all of our offense.   :icon_frown:

It's more than a little disconcerting that a rookie with a high walk rate retired the Nats on 4 pitches in the 6th inning. :hang:

Except for a little bump, though, Stras looked really good, though.
