Have fun after embarrassing longtime Washington baseball fans, by dropping 2 games to the Senators' former foe, the New York Yankees...

This is simply the worst idea.  Why the hell would you schedule this on the evening before a day game?

...and having it on a day where they played a 14 inning game is the extra drop of piss in the punch bowl.  I can't imagine how badly this team is going to play tomorrow.

From Marla Lerner Tanenbaum, Chair, Washington Nationals Dream Foundation:

"In honor of the Nationals efforts to advance the game’s celebrated past through the development of youth baseball, the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation, the team’s charitable arm, cordially invites you to attend the Dream Gala 2012 on Saturday, June 16, at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center at National Harbor.

Guests will mingle with Nationals players, coaches and other baseball luminaries during the cocktail reception and silent auction beginning at 6:30 p.m., followed by a dinner program emceed by Nationals broadcasters Bob Carpenter and F.P. Santangelo. Table and partial table sponsorships include the company of a player or coach during dinner and admission to the VIP After Party at the hotel’s sizzling Pose nightclub.

The Dream Foundation is focused on improving the lives of children and families in our community while encouraging the growth of baseball. The annual Dream Gala provides the great majority of our annual funding, and has netted more than $2.75 million in support of our three cornerstone programs. With your help, we can ensure that baseball diamonds really are forever, bringing joy to generations of youth across the Washington area. "

Why not schedule it for tomorrow evening...before a day off?

for all the big wigs that attend (and donate), Saturday evening is the only logical choice.  I think they played a long game last year or the year before too.

This is for charity. It's fine.

Also, you're crazy if you don't think some of these guys would take advantage of a free Saturday night if they wouldn't be at this thing.

Did Bryce go to the gala?  I'm sure he was the life of the party considering the mood he was in after (and during) the game.

(Image removed from quote.)

He looks incredibly awkward, and almost like he didn't even shower before going.

Oddly (and uncomfortably), we know he did shower.  This is from the Post's post game report:

Quote
Bryce Harper ambled out of the shower, sat at the chair in front of his locker with his shoulders hunched over. The 19-year-old slipped on jeans and a gray long-sleeve shirt, placed a knit beanie onto his head and white headphones around his neck, and slipped out.

Did he go commando???

Haha, that provided a little comic relief from this loss. That's almost too in-depth of a report from the WaPo

Is the guy in the picture holding his hand in the air Brad Lidge acknowledging his role as "closer" in both Yankee losses?

I've always thought that he was kind of a douche.  I've never met him, though, so my impressions are based solely on how he comes across on the air.

Never met him but did run into him at a Nats/Dodgers game at RFK.    He wasn't all puffed up  ..  very down to earth and friendly.
