Listening to FP and Bob and it sounds like all the players had fun last night rubbing shoulders with donors and members of the military and did selfish things like selling game worn jerseys.

Wish these snobs would focus on baseball and not capitalizing on their midseason popularity.  :whip:

I'm sure they appreciated the opportunity to blow off steam. It was a good thing they did last night

Wasn't the building of the baseball academy mandated under the contract where the District agreed to build the baseball stadium?   Obviously it makes more sense to raise funds from the fan base rather than paying for it themselves.  So we have another party celebrating these billionaire's children who've accomplished a whole lot of nothing on their own and meanwhile six years into their ownership they still haven't delivered.  This better be one hell of a facility considering that it's taking three times as long to build it as it took for Nats Park.

Wasn't the ZiMS Foundation Night-at-the-Park thingy this past Thursday night as well?  Two late-night events mixed in with a three-game series probably explains our piss-poor performance.

Did you hear the story that Action Jackson asked if he could leave early?  Davy told him he could leave after the picture if he wanted to!

blitzer is a good dude.  i like him.  plus he's a nats fan.

He also does a 'Situation Room' clip before each Wizards home match (nothing profound but it does add a tiny bit of atmosphere to a team that could use some).

The Gala is always in May or June.

Last year it was on June 18.

Nationals Dream Foundation holds Dream Gala
By Mike Fiammetta / MLB.com | 06/17/12 1:20 AM ET

Three initiatives within each cornerstone were announced:

• The construction of a Washington Nationals Diabetes Care Complex at Children's National Medical Center, which will begin later this year.

• The donation of $400,000 in grants to regional non-profits including Jan's Tutoring House, Arlington Little League Challenger Division and DC RBI.

• The construction of three baseball fields at the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy, to begin within the coming months.

A pair of familiar faces emceed the gala in MASN broadcasters Bob Carpenter and F.P. Santangelo, while a live auction was hosted by the Nats' radio crew, Charlie Slowes and Dave Jageler. Items included an authentic Washington Senators jersey and a chance to "Field Your Own Team" of nine players on the Nationals Park field before a game, as well as game-used merchandise and apparel from current Nats players. A Bryce Harper game-worn jersey was auctioned for $10,000, while a bat by the 19-year-old star went for $12,000.

FP looks like a Guido and Bryce could pass for Mike Ness.
