Nationals vs Yankees, Game 1
« Topic Start: June 15, 2012, 03:54:21 AM »
The Empire Strikes Back After Father's Day '06...
That's a CLOWN headline, bro!
Hey, I'm not done!
Remember this, Yankees?

Not so long ago, in a ballpark about a mile away...
A Padawan named Reean Zimmz defeated the Evil Empire
The lerner has become the Master & has GioGio Gazinks to defend him
This time the Nationals' lead their division, as does the Evil Empire
The Nationals' have a six game winning streak... As does the Evil Empire
Last week, the Jedi Master GioGio Gazinks threw 6.1 innings, 2 ER, and a victory.
The Sith Loser Phull Yuyys threw 6.1 innings, 2 ER, and a victory.
Now prepare, as the Master has taken an apprentice, clown aficionado Breece Herper
Prepare to watch, as we skip over that whole Empire Strikes Back thing...
And right to: Return of the Yankee Killers

Welcome Back, Yankees!
Thanks for beating the rest of the NL East. Now it's time to repeat 2006, nages!

Will try to update with lineups before I head out. Either was going to get an early start, or post later this afternoon, figured I would go with early.

Going into this match, it could be one of the best and most important, and defining, games of the team's history.

Are You  Ready?!?

This is going to be a good test of how far the Nats have come this year...the Yankees last had back-to-back losses on 28th/29th May when they dropped a pair at Anaheim...since then they are 11-2 and are taking a six-match winning streak into tonight (sweeps of Mets home and Braves away).

Actually won two of three (lost 3-5, won 3-2, won 3-nil in that order, 16th/17th/18th June - not inconsiderable though given how dire the team was that season), as we did in the Fabulous Fathers' Day Weekend home series in 2006...even so your fundamental point is valid; this team does not appear to be intimidated by pinstripes.

MacDougal saved both Nats wins in that series.

I am so excited about this game and this whole series, I just can't wait.  I hope our guys aren't up tight and go out and beat the Yanks to a pulp.  The fact that Gio is pitching is excellent and that Harper is literally killing the ball is fantastic.  We just need Zimm and Morse to join the parade. :whip:
