Anyone play OOTP?

Anyone play OOTP 13? Its a baseball simulator where you get to act as the General Manager for any team. You can start in the minors and work your way up or just pick a team and choose what to do as acting GM. Its a lot of fun and you get to control the team the way YOU want. No more playing Ross Detwiler. Let young guys get their starts...all the hilarity that ensues from freak accidents and injuries.

In my game Ted Lerner died and suddenly the Nationals had a team willing to spend. It was glorious.

Just wondering if anyone else plays it?

Yes, my Nats team is a monster right now with Harper/Stras under contract.

Here's the thread if a mod could merge. http://www.wnff.net/index.php?topic=19734.msg979309#msg979309

:lmao: the same thing happened to me. I renamed the new owner Mark Lerner and he's a monster spender. I wrote about it in the other thread.

I'm in 2016 with my OOTP13 Nationals franchise. I have Harper, Zimmermann, Espinosa, Strasburg and Rendon all locked up to good contracts for a while and the rest of my lineup is made up of young players making minimum wage or close to it. Also, Harper is the best player in the league and Strasburg is far and away the best pitcher. He has a career ERA of like 2.50.

I won the World Series in 2015 after losing in seven games in 2014. My team is in first place in 2016 by about 20 games; it's July. The combination of Strasburg, Harper and a few other players (like Rendon) has made my team amazing. My defense and pitching are the best in baseball by far.

Strasburg for me.

the best thing about Stras is that, in both of our games, he's pitched 200+ innings every year. He's been completely durable for me, striking out 200+ people each year as well. Absolute stud in the game.

I've played last year's several times, and he almost always ends up like that (I had one season where he pitched 200+ innings with a sub-2 era) or a complete bust (usually due to injury, but performance too)- I've never seen him as a consistent 3.75-4.00 era pitcher in that game

I think he has a poor durability rating as well. I've lucked out.

He signed a pretty club friendly deal with me.

Strasburg is a monster in this game, I usually lock him up for 10 years at the start of the game. I package Gio for some outfielder as I never get the "good" Gio in this game..  his control is kind of low.

Edwin and Jordan are worth keeping for 5 or so years.

And a tip for 1B after you void LaRoche last contract year is Anthony Rizzo, HR machine.

I used to play OOTP years ago.  I was contemplating trying another game, but after seeing the links you've put up, I may just order the new version.

I used to play my own, simulated MLB seasons with fictional teams and a random draft.  Sometimes I'd spice it up by creating fictional players based on people in my own family.  It was loads of fun.  I got from 1900 through 2015, back around 2003 or so.

I pretty much ave up on it after I found myself spending most of my time trying to get staffs at every level with excellent or above ratings - most of my prospects started over achieveing, but it just got boring

anyone know how to bring up the box score mid-game in iOTTP?  I want to be able to check pitch counts before replacing a pitcher.

OOTP for mobile is now MLB Manager, the 2015 version is available at least in the Apple App store for $4.99.

For desktop/steam it's still OOTP but now is OOTP16

And the new one has real teams and logos. I haven't upgraded yet. It goes on clearance every year right after the World Series. I'm gonna keep playing the old version until then.

I love this game.

first season in the books with the Nats, 76-88.  I did resign JZ for 4/$16 million per year.  Scherzer counts $30 million against the spending budget, i'll be trading him rather quickly.

This was the best upgrade to the PC version in years. So many little features (Find a player, multiple short lists, player preview hover, harder contract demands) that totally change the game for the better.

Ugh now I am updating.  I'm gonna continue my existing season, but I wanna see the new look!

one thing the mobile version has that's new is the ability to import your 2014 data.  Just don't blow away the 2014 app before installing the 2015 app (like I did).

One major flaw. The phone won't go to sleep with the app open. I killed my battery earlier. Didn't see this with previous versions.
