We had that before Ramos got hurt.

I admit that Flores isn't producing with the bat or throwing out runners but he is better defensively than what Ramos did prior to the injury. Solano seems to be hitting and I don't understand why everyone isn't jumping on DJ to give him more starts. We ( WNFF)  do it for everyone else on the roster or doing well in the minors.

Flores's supposed defensive upgrade over Ramos (which I don't totally agree with) is nowhere near the advantage Ramos has over Flores with the stick.

As for why I don't want Hundley...

2013: 3 million
2014: 4 million
2015: 5 million (club option)

Way too much for a backup catcher.

I'm so in as long as I get to be the enforcer. I got a wood bat and a sock with an onion

Jaso isn't a bad idea if you are looking for offense.  They have Montero and Olivo, and while the latter is awful this year, I think they like his D.

Solano going to the DL - http://www.natsinsider.com/2012/07/solano-likely-headed-to-dl.html

Sandy Leon expected to come back up.  Hopefully he lasts at least one full game before he too gets hurt again.

The Nationals announced that they outrighted catcher Carlos Maldonado to Triple-A Syracuse. Maldonado, 33, appeared in four games for the Nationals this May and was removed from the team’s 40-man roster three days ago. He has spent most of the season at Triple-A Syracuse, where he has a .223/.343/.405 batting line in 146 plate appearances.

Maldonando certainly deserves a cup of coffee in September with a playoff bound team.

Did anyone address why Suzuki over Shoppach since both were available?

Only Suzuki was available. Shoppach never cleared waivers.

Shoppach ended up with the Mets several days later

He was claimed off of waivers by the Mets. The way waivers work made him unavailable to the Nats.

Blue - never available on waivers is not the same as never available.  he was shopped before the trade deadline.

Even if true, there were no takers, meaning the Red Sox wanted too much. Shoppach can't even nail down the starting job against Josh Thole, who is a terrible defensive catcher.
