:spaz: :hang:

Perhaps if we are really lucky Rizzo will learn his lesson regarding position player depth. Two decent bats would have made a world of difference. Obviously you cannot predict injuries but everyone knew they were thin on hitting talent going into the season.
We have four top bats out. You take the four top bats off any team in the majors and there will be drop off.

Not enough vertan- is alou available?

Which Alou? If the Nats liked Matt Stairs, I bet they would love some veteran leadership from Jesus Alou.

This paper thin team is being exposed. DeRosa, Nady, and Bernadina are not major league caliber players anymore (or never were in Bernadina's case) Tyler Moore just needs to start in LF until Morse comes back in July and we may need to just trade Espinosa and Lannen for some type of OF bat. My guess for our best lineup until Morse returns would be

Lombo, 2B
Harper, RF
Zimmerman, 3B
LaRoche, 1B
Moore, LF
Ankiel, CF
Ramos, C
Desmond, SS

I could even live with Espinosa staying at second and  playing Lombo in LF

If Espy was showing any signs of coming out of this slump (the word slump doesn't do this justice) offensive, nuclear meltdown then it'd be different but he is not. Espinosa needs to figure out whatever is going so disastrously with his swing that has caused all of his power to disappear and  strike out a 3rd of his at bats. The place for that is Syracuse not a big league club with offense issues that is trying to make the playoffs

I'm glad Davey mentioned that Lombo could play in LF. So when Bernadina/Nady suck it up we at least know he is willing to put him out there.
It's the perfect way to keep him in the lineup when Zimmerman comes back without benching Espinosa.

Oh god this really sucks.

Moore or trade for something. Being Werthless for six weeks will hurt.

Lombo has no power, that's fine if LaRoche and Zimmerman immediately bounce back to form, if not put Moore out there. This deadball offense isn't going to work all season

Moore should be in LF, Lombo at 2B when the team takes the field on Tuesday.

There is something so unintentionally hilarious about this post.  I know I rag on Werth (mercilessly) but last night was really heartbreaking as both a fan of this team and a fan of baseball.  Yeah, he can seem aloof after strikeouts but the guy does hustle.  Just a bad break for a guy that looked like he was on his way to producing this season.

Agreed on all points. When we were without Morse and Zimmerman, and then LaRoche, I realized how much I relied on Werth. The guy was having a great year up to this point and it was looking like a perfect bounce back season. To be without him in this lineup will be a huge loss. We may have Zimmerman and LaRoche back but we still lost a power guy and that spot in the lineup will be replaced by two weak hitting players (should be Moore). This hurts!

Teahan is hitting .298 with 21 RBIs in Syracuse. He's played RF.

If Werth goes to the 60 day DL, there will be another roster spot. That leaves room for Moore. #don'tsendhiscoonassdown

If Davey won't play him, having him up just screws his development

True. Let's see what happens against the Bucs. I'll bet he gets some time.

LF or 2B, I just don't see how Davey could take Lombo out of the lineup.  He's one the few (two?) guys who are producing.

0 hr, 0 3b, 3 2b, he's not putting up power numbers (especially if they're considering left), and this offense is desperate for it (26th in the mlb in slg, 26th in iso, 27th in hr)

Lombo is playing better then both Espinosa and Desmond and is the closes thing this team has to a lead of guy. We have some power guys in Morse, Harper, Zimmerman, LaRoche, and Moore it's just a matter of getting them onto the field. If Lombo is benched for Nady, Bernadina, Desmond, and Espinosa then they're is something wrong with this team.

I think lombo belongs at second, but I don't want to see him in left unless Zimmerman is back to form

really it should either be moore or go out and get a denard span or work some other kind of trade.

nady/bernadina can't hit enough to warrant an everyday spot.

We really need a major league replacement right now!
