I'd like to see the dodgers post that shot all over the stadium any time they get the same crew

The umpires union is nothing short of a mafia group.  Can't criticize the umps.  Can't question there infallible calls.  Can't even stare one down a bit.

that's ridiculous.  Any ump should be able to go to any other ump and say "you blew that call" - if the 1B ump wants to stick to the call then that's fine, but nothing should stop the one ump from being able to tell another that they completely missed a call.

Under that scenario, the umpire in the wrong would feel he is being "shown up" by the other umpires and proceed to toss them out of the game leaving the game with only one umpire.

You can't possibly win that complaint.

No point in even trying.

I'm sure it's symbolic.  That's the point.  Good on the Pirates, IMO.

Not saying that they will, just posting for relevance.  It just fits into the larger narrative that umpiring has been pretty piss poor this year.

I know stafiums aren't allowed to post live pitch fx data, but I wonder what the penalty is

Gotta start somewhere.  If enough complaints are made about the quality of the officiating, eventually they'll have to take notice.

If only there was some system that did it automatically- perhaps one used to grade umps or tha is instantly available for tv viewers

So the solution is to then have umpires bring televisions out on the field with them?

Or they'll just nuke Pittsburgh and force the rest of the teams to send one player per year to a royal rumble deathmatch at MLB HQ :mg:

@JeffPassan

Sources: MLB to test out new radar- and camera-based replay systems in Yankee Stadium and Citi Field starting next week.

The systems at both NY parks will be for fair-or-foul calls and are very similar to the one used in tennis.
