Last year the big thing was to ask celebrities to the Marine Corps ball as a joke. It got played out and jumped the shark last year. Looks like some wook from Camp Pendleton asked Harper to this year's ball.

So tired of that crap now. The first time it was funny. Now, just annoying. Ask someone to the ball you have a legit chance of freaking afterwards (or during).

Oh, and Bryce yesterday:

He's going to come up big tomorrow against Wainwright. I feel it.

"I was just saying to myself, ‘If he gets on, I’ve got to bunt him over, so, 97 [mph] to bunt, that’s going to be pretty hard. I hope he hits a homer.’ And he hit a homer. I was excited, the fans were excited, it was electric in that place."

For his birthday can we give him a 15 year, $300 million contract?

Bryce will undoubtedly get the longest contract ever at some point before he hits free agency.  Even with Boras, the Nats know how valuable he is to the franchise and will pony up the cash and years to keep him in DC.

And then we hope he stays healthy and doesn't turn into A-Rod. Or worse. Tricky business, these long baseball contracts.

Uh ... I don't mind if he turns in to A-Rod. Especially the beginning of A-Rod's career.

Those last years can be killers, though.

Bryce could sign a 15 year contract at age 25 (when he's a free agent) and still only be 40 by the end of it.

You know what? I forgot how young he is. Starting now a 15 year contract would make sense.

no joke, I was heading out of DCA for work last Sunday and I saw Bryce and his mom in the security line in front of me about to head home to Vegas.

Nah, didn't want to bother him. He had a hat on and was trying to be low key. It was pretty obvious that no one recognized him.

He does not look as big through the torso as he does in a uniform.  Maybe that is because he's surrounded by fat non-athletes.  I can't believe no one picked up on his height, though.

It's funny, this town we don't seem to get all gaga when celebrities are in public.  Usually it is a pol you find in some random place, but I think, other than the President, most can circulate without people flipping out.  Ballplayers can go around and, unless they are flaunting, they go in peace too.  Would surprise me if Kevin Durant went to Nats games and was not harassed.
