.220/.281/.390, 22.2% Ks

Those are Mike Trout's numbers from last year.

Don't panic about Bryce Harper, folks.

Bust

Send him down or trade him. Time to move on. He's too immature and too impulsive.

Someone should tell Bryce that staying with the breaking ball away and chipping it to left field for a single is sexy.

It's great to see him reaching out to the community. Those kids are going to have great memories of him for a long time.

And :lmao: at "Be as sexy as you can!".

Serious post: It's time to move him down in the lineup. Put Werth in the two hole. Or bat him leadoff and hit Lombo/Espinosa in the two hole.

Take pressure off him. Hit him 7th or so. When Desmond gets back, he'll have some speed to distract pitchers with.

But he is  struggling to hit in the second half. I keep thinking he'll put it together, but he's being eaten alive by breaking balls

ONCE AGAIN ... the club is winning.

davey has said all along he likes what bryce is capable of doing at the 2-hole (he's got pop, speed, can bunt, known for his good eye, etc).  is he struggling?  absolutely.  could he benefit from moving down?  probably.

but with the club winning and everyone else hitting well in their respective slots, i don't see a change forthcoming.

I'm with hammonds on this - I get the sense it's not so much that Bryce is struggling but how well everyone else is hitting in their slots as to why Davey's not willing to muck with the chemistry at this point

So? We were winning without Werth. Should he be riding the pine? How about Ian Desmond?

Harper is hitting .171/.257/.244 since the break. He's got no pop. No good eye. Poor contact. He can't bunt. He's more than struggling, he's hit a huge wall and isn't playing CF well enough to make up for his atrocious hitting. We're a team that is  fighting for the division, not playing to get to .500.

Bump for the bomb tonight

No question he will keep playing, this organization has made a commitment to Harper and Strasburg that even seems to trump this years success. Like a stance that "the best is yet to come although this year is important too; this isn't our 'all-in' year"

We all know The Kid has the potential to be great.  There's obviously a learning curve but Davey likes all the skills and energy he brings to the Club.  Last night was fantastic.  How great would it be if he turns the corner and starts hitting the way he runs and throws - especially in time for the Braves' series.

I hope he never hits like he throws. Still hasn't learned what the point of the cutoff man is.

When I mention his throws, I mean the ones that go directly to where they're supposed to, not the errant ones.

Give him time. Remember, he's only been playing in the outfield for just over a year now. The kid trusts his arm a little too much, that was an area I think that Ankiel was really helping him in. Hopefullly Werth will continue teaching him that.

The arm giveth, the arm taketh away.  Right now, the arm has been takething away a lot of extra bases from runners.  He really only gets into trouble when he tries nailing guys at home.

Niese is a moderately tough lefty. Davey probably wanted to avoid a disaster night against him to keep Bryces confidence high and provide the extra rest as a bonus.

With back to back lefties, Bryce was going to sit one or the other.  That's the time to play Moore.  Just so happens that Davey picked the right game to put Harper in (Santana) where he did some damage.  I don't know if there was a reason why Santana and not Niese.  Unless you prefer Moore not to stay fresh and play, I don't think there is much to complain about.
