so any chance he wins RoY?

If he keeps playing like this, he's got a shot.  I think it's still Frazier's to lose at this point and Rosario's in the conversation.  I think that's your top 3 with Miley just outside that.

As much as LaRoche carried this team for a long stretch, when we discuss team MVP, Harper's name has to be in the mix.  He may not be the stats leader, but he's completely changed the dynamic of this team since he got here.

I really like Anthony Rizzo. Kid's got real talent and I really liked the things he was saying after the game.

He totally gets it - Good for him

Has to feel good getting praise from an older player like Rizzo.

Harper's list should have included "throwing direct strikes to home plate from center field and making outs."

Some good (ok great) and some not so good from Harper last night.  I'm fine with that - especially when the good plays are as good as his throw from CF to home plate.

Tied with Mel Ott for second-most home runs by a teenager in a season.

Break all the records, Harper :whip:  7 more home runs

So was the one that went just foul.

Seems like he's adjusted to the low and away breaking ball.  Also getting some good swings in against veteran lefties like Buehrle is another good sign.

He was always going to adjust.  19 year olds just don't do what he's already done in the majors.  He's far outperformed almost every teenager in the history of baseball.

That throw beat the runner so bad the catcher had time to order a falafel while he waited to make the tag.

Some more updates and Harper-related things to track on Fangraphs!

This one is for centerfield defense, for those centerfielders with more than 500 innings logged.  It appears that Harper has a chance to be rated somewhere in Trout's league, defensively.  Note that DRS on the right seems to give Trout a lot of credit for his Home Run saving grabs, but those don't factor into fWAR.  Neat.

I added an age column to the Rookie batting leaders list, because I think it's silly Todd Frazier is still in contention for the ROTY award.  The tide should swing on that one, soon, however, especially now that they're tied in home runs.  Some impressiveness points should factor in, when you're talking about a 19 year old...

...who has already put up the second greatest season by a teenager.  Ever.  And closing fast.
