No, he isn't better. The guy is a joke in CF. He doesn't have a positive UZR in four years. He hasn't posted a non-negative number of DRS since 2008.

Basically, Kemp should be playing LF or first base

SHHHH!  you are breaking the Mystique!

And you know what Curt Schilling said about Mystique . . .

Probably not, due to innings.

Gold Glove is a popularity contest.

Not as much as the All-Star game, but I don't totally disagree.

One day later, and it's done.  If he's zooming up at this pace, maybe he has a chance at catching Mel Ott.

Yesterday was the first time we saw Harper live and it took one at bat before he made an impact (stretching the bloop hit into a double).  His taking of home in the 7th on Zimmerman's hit had the crowd on its feet.  He is "must see" baseball.

I had a horrible, horrible dream last night that Harper got traded to the Red Sox. Luckily it was just a dream.

I actually had a dream about 2 months ago where bryce harper died.  It was traumatic.

I had a dream that Bryce Harper couldn't hit breaking balls. Then I turned off MASN and went to sleep.

That play at the plate was sensational!  I thought that would win the game for us!

At cf,  Kemp is better and doesn't have a reputation of being a petulant punk

Reputation is a funny thing. I was sitting in CF a couple years ago and Kemp got into it with a fan.

Another 2012 accomplishment for Bryce:

Quote
Quickest Trot: Bryce Harper, Washington Nationals - 16.2 seconds [video]
Yesterday, after Harper's two home run day in which he had a pair of nearly 20-second trots, I said: "He still owns two of the ten fastest trots of the year (including the single quickest non-inside-the-park home run trot), but that doesn't seem to be the norm anymore. How disappointing."

I guess Harper must have been listening because, in the first inning of Thursday's game, the 19-year-old phenom hit a laser into the rightfield bullpen and then raced around the bases faster than he ever has before. His 16.2 second trot is now the fastest single trot of the year, putting Harper in the #1 and #2 (and #10) slots on the leaderboard. These are the trots we all want to see. Maybe we should just let him know that, in 2010, Adam Rosales had four regular tater trots faster than Harper's from last night. Four!

It's like when the BeeGees came out with the Saturday Night Fever sound track and had Stayin' Alive, Night Fever, and another lousy song all in the top 10 at the same time.

What the hell is Bryce Harper's new walk up music? It's usually his first at bat. It sounds like a freaking video game!

Yeah, sounds like weird clown music to me. Bring back Bad to the Bone! I liked that one. Or ask Werth for a song recommendation, he seems to have good taste.

Charlie and Dave were getting into Werth's  use of Led Zep's "Dazed and Confused".

Probably not, due to innings.

If its by innings, then Harper will finish ahead of Kemp

Harper: 962 Innings on the field
Kemp: 702 innings on the field

Yeah I was listening to that game, I get it stuck in my head now thanks to Werth. I also enjoy that song that is basically someone strumming the guitar with the crowd shouting between each measure. Crowd gets into it.

Warehouse by DMB. They play it at Caps games a lot - have been for a few years now.

But he's got less than 500 in CF.

See, Bryce Harper in CF is one of the best in MLB according to the metrics. Bryce Harper in LF/RF is pretty awful. Its weird.

It is supposed to be easier to get a read on a ball in CF and his make up speed and the space give him an ability to cover a lot of ground. Seems like a good fit until he gets bulky.

Bryce Harper is not only the greatest 19 year-old rookie of all-time outright, he has passed Todd Frazier in fWAR.

It's time to campaign for him as ROTY.

Palmero won a GG at 1B playing something like 25 games there. Play time at a position has nothing to do with who wins the GG. Defensive reputation and offense gets you the nod.

Harper’s defense boosts his candidacy for National League rookie of the year. Reds third baseman Todd Frazier has Harper beat on every major offensive count – average, on-base percentage, slugging, home runs and RBI. Frazier seems to be the frontrunner, and he’s absolutely worthy. But Harper’s defense gives him 3.0 wins above replacement by FanGraphs’ formula, compared to Frazier’s 2.9. It’s a dead heat, at least by that metric.

Thanks for noticing, Adam Kilgore.
