Tad bit premature maybe

Tom would tell you it will have no impact.

And that shot of Stras is from his rookie year.  That sort of thing drives me crazy...

To the Mets fan who yelled, "Harper, you suck!" (loud enough for me to hear it on my tv) I say - glad you got to witness what a great player he is.  He started and finished your Mets tonight.  Hopefully he'll come back tomorrow and the next day and punish you again.

If I mindfact correctly he actually enjoys, or at least look foward to getting booed, I remember he said he would be ok and possibly energized by Phillies fans booing him as long as they didn't throw any batteries at him :)

Harper dug the Mets lonely grave hole tonight and pushed in the dirt with the help of Morse

He's just trying to drive down his asking price so we can offer him a 25 year $3T contract after the trade deadline.

This was the best Harper has looked in a long, long time. Patience at the plate and taking what the game gives him

From the Bog, and in turn, from the Ripken Show:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/dc-sports-bog/post/davey-johnson-still-says-he-should-be-fired-if-nats-miss-playoffs/2012/07/27/gJQA49vCEX_blog.html

Quote
There were non-punch line moments, too, like when Johnson was asked about managing Bryce Harper.

“Well, he’s kind of like that old Oriole tradition that we all learned,” Johnson said. “He plays the game hard, he plays the game right. Shoot, he’s had balls hit him off the foot, he won’t come out of the lineup. [Thursday] before the game he couldn’t hold any food down, I was gonna sit him, give him a day of rest. He said no no, I’m fine, the food just didn’t agree with me. I mean, he doesn’t play like he’s 19. He’s all in.”

Stud.

If he's not healthy he should sit. Seems to be hurting the team by playing through it. Needs to rest up and get healthy.

Cortisone is a hell of a drug.

I don't think it's health.  I think MLB is wearing him down a bit.  He's definitely slumping a little, which is to be expected.  Now, instead of having the best season ever by a 19 year old, he's merely having one of the best seasons ever, tied with some guy named Mantle and just ahead of some other dude named Griffey.

Still, though, I'd like to see Davey give him more time off when Werth gets back.  We're going to need that kid in the playoffs.

With how good some of the other guys are playing, is there any chance Harper is at least put into a platoon with Moore, or possibly even the 4th OF when Werth comes back?  In terms of RE24, for the season

Morse           221 PA       +9.46 RE24
Bernadina     183 PA       +7.48 RE24
Moore           104 PA       +6.04 RE24
Werth           113 PA       +3.36 RE24
Harper          352 PA       -1.96 RE24

Seems to me it could be argued he's the 5th best OF we have (this year).  He's still a phenom and having a great season, I'm just going against the conventional wisdom a bit and pointing out, our best shot for this year, might not include Bryce as a starter.

I don't know... It seems like anytime something good or big happens for us, Harper is somehow involved. Maybe it's just drawing a walk and stealing second or taking an extra base on a single... He just seems to get the team going. I'm probably mindfacting though.

The Nats are running more this year.  Part of it is Bernadina in the line-up more.  But part of the credit has to go to Harper
