it looked like wright could have made the catch and gotten the out...

He could have, but it would have been awfully close and could have gone either way. But there's no error on a close play like that unless Harper gets an extra base after the ball bounces away.

I thought interference should have been called on Wright. He basically pinned Harper down

Harper didn't have a chance to go home anyway, their man backing up third had the ball.

you know, it's pretty rare when a game goes by without harper doing something spectacular.  I've never seen a player who changes a game like he does.

He keeps the opposition from trying to score from third with his brilliant throws, he takes extra bases like they are an entitlement and he gets some really key hits!  We're blessed to have him.  And the record book will probably be shattered by him over the years.

Wonder what Wright and Harper said to each other right after the play?   There was a short dialogue and Wright had his glove over his mouth.    In my mind, it was probably along the lines of,  "Are you OK, bro?"

I read Harper's lips.  He said, "Are you okay?"  I'm not sure about the "bro" part though.

I didn't know what he said but will admit the "bro" was poetic license.   :)

.230/.287/.317 since the Petite game

He's struggling to adjust. Between his ankle, his breakdown at the plate, and, I'm guessing, his back, I think he should sit for three or four games. Let him watch some film on his swing, break things down with Zimmerman and others and regoup himself for the second half push. Will give Corey Brown the opportunity to play in a game or two or at least get some more playing time.

Best time to sign him to a 25 year $2B contract extension.

Don't know what's wrong with Harper but a rest couldn't hurt.

He seems to be in the middle of the action a lot ... beats out a DP and scores on Zimm's HR, he steals bases, gets bloop singles, gets some walks etc.

But he hasn't hit a HR in ages and he's nothing close to the Mantle, Griffey Jr stuff a lot of us (me) were hoping and maybe expecting.

Mickey Mantle struggled so much in his first year in the majors he was sent back down to the Minor Leagues.

Mike Trout struggled last year when he was up, now look at him.

Harper is a rookie and a teenager. He's going to have his ups and downs.

Still, with all the bumps and bruises, I think a rest would do him a world of good too.

I feel this is more than just a slump. Just the way pitchers have been pitching to him and the way his approach to the plate has been. He's injured and needs some time off.

I have an old girlfriend who has gone to seed that would fit the bill nicely.

I know he's struggling with his hitting but he's still in the middle of most rallies.  And the crowd today roared every time he came to the plate.  He'll figure things out eventually and then.......watch out!

Hmmmm ... maybe he should be concentrating on baseball. Looks like the big city is corrupting our wholesome Mormon slugger

Harper started the go-ahead rally last night. Pinch-hit, singled to left. Stole second even though he can't run full. Scored. Needs a rest.

Exactly! People need to look past the stats. The guy is an engine for this team. Makes big plays and always forces the issues. The guy is a huge asset even when his average is low.

I say give him occasional days off as long as Bernie is hitting but keep him as the usual starter. He's a key piece if we want to make the playoffs.

The Nats need a 2B/SS to back Lombo and Desi, but otherwise I'd like to see them bring up Corey Brown. Give Brown some OF time, let Harper heal a bit. Give Moore some time at 1B just so he doesn't get rusty.

You probably would not find a better one easily available than DeRosa.  There's also Teahen, who can play 2d.
