Sounds like the shortstop version of Derek Norris

Also, 24 and high A ball?

He's 23

But ya, his age in relation to competition level is one of the biggest reasons he isn't a top 10 prospect (in the Nats system).

Repeating A+.

This link is to a post in NJ by Lacy Lusk discussing martinson's start to the season.

Quote
Martinson, a 24-year-old former Texas State wide receiver, won two Carolina League player of the week honors in April. He is tied for fourth in the league with five home runs and tied for fifth with 17 RBI while hitting .272 with a .389 on-base percentage and .522 slugging percentage.

Cooled a bit after this article.  His current line (186 PAs) is .252 / .359 / .459, 7 HRs, 6 SBs (2 CS).  Striking out at a high rate (28.5%), and has not had a K% below 27% at any full season level.

Byron Kerr ‏@masnKerr 1m
Jason Martinson promoted to Harrisburg

Hit .268/.374/.484 with 11 Doubles, 4 Triples, 12 HRs, 53 RBIs, 38 BBs, 89 Ks, 15 SBs, 2 CS in 73 games with Potomac this season. 7 errors in 55 games at SS and a .968 Field pct.

His walk rate is significantly higher than it was in his stint last year with Potomac. He turns 25 in October but he does have an intriguing skillset.

that explains why he wasn't in the lineup yesterday.   Good luck to him!

let's see how long he keeps taking walks.  I half think this team tries to drill that out of guys.
