Ftfy.  The whole forum actually doesn't exist - it's just a playground for your multiple personalities to feud it out.

Davey has to let Gio and Jackson pitch till there is nothing left in their arms. Jackson was at 90 on his pitch count and he was looking good. He should have pitched the 8th. We have to get these guys to 220 innings at least.

I have long thought that Davey was among the more creative of managers, but he has become much too formulaic of late. And that was the downfall of  Manny, and then Riggleman.  Pull the starter after 6 and then use your 7th, 8th, and 9th inning pitchers.  At least Davey let's the starter go seven, but you're right, no reason, especially given the current state of our bulpen, to automatically pull the starter after 7 just to be faithful to the formula.

He was indeed a multi-downfall guy.

Davey hasn't been creative as the Nationals' manager. Uses left/right matchups way too much. MUST go with the 8th inning guyin the 8th.

The downfall of Riggleman was being an interim the GM didn't want long term and giving the GM a very easy out

Does anyone recall Davey ever speaking of "urgency" when discussing how he manages or this team because this team doesn't play with the sense of urgency that other teams seem to.

If you don't like patient managers, it's going to be a long season for you.

His managing style sucks.

Succinct and captures my feelings well. And it's not even his insistence on sticking with HRod that bothers me the most, it's that he just doesn't know HRod well enough.

Anyone who consistently watches the Nats can tell you that when Rodriguez doesn't have it at the beginning of the inning, he just doesn't get it together and ends up with awful outings like tonight. He kept the 7th hitter alive to get a hit from him, and had too many walks. As soon as it was clear it was bad HRod, he should have been pulled. It's just not smart managing to leave him in there, the odds of him keeping things steady unless he comes out dominant is too low to justify the decision.

Didn't he say before the season that he would resign if we don't make the postseason?

If that's true, I honestly don't want the playoffs. If Davey goes than Eckstein goes
