It rained all day around DC and was pretty chilly.

The United were also playing right up the street.  Of course that was to one of their smallest ever crowds.

Looks like Fluffer is right when he says best since 2008.  I don't think he's said we are back to 2008 yet.  Another way to say it is 4th worst since coming to Washington, with a decent shot at overtaking 2007.  '08 and '05 look out of reach.

Fluffer has been doing a lot of bragging without giving out specific sales info.  A thousand more than last year is a seven percent increase, not bad at all except when judged against 05, 06  and 08.  05 should be the baseline for success and we are still  a pitiful forty percent below that mark. Not surprising but still interesting is the drop off after 08.

Thanks Chelsea!

There couldn't have been 2,000 people there last night.  The entire upper deck (except for a few sections) was completely empty, as were the mezzanine levels and most of the lower bowl.

Typical DC bullcrap/hype.    If we start now, we can prepare for the snow in December.    Attendance is down and buy all the freakin' bread.     :panic:

It's the Astros.

A point not entirely without validity - three of the five poorest-drawing home matches in Nats history (Nats Park or RFK) occurred in a weeknight series against that team in September 2010:

10,999   Monday 20th September 2010 vs Astros
11,191   Wednesday 21st April 2010 vs Rockies
11,623   Monday 19th April 2010 vs Rockies
11,893   Tuesday 21st September 2010 vs Astros
12,213   Wednesday 22nd September 2010 vs Astros

Also...expect the thin attendance to continue through the rest of the homestand: besides tonight's Astros finale (going up against a Caps home playoff match), Marlins have always been a lousy draw here to begin with, and there's a good chance of rain Saturday and Sunday (50-60% per Capital Weather Gang).

You can see the attendance for each game for the Nationals and any other MLB team, going back many years, at
Ballparks of Baseball:

http://www.ballparksofbaseball.com/attendance.htm

Note that the Nationals outdrew the Orioles in 2010-2011.  Nationals low games in 2011 were in April, likely with cold and/or wet weather, and kids in school.

[...]Note that the Nationals outdrew the Orioles in 2010-2011.[...]

...and although the Nats are trailing right now (on the basis of just six home fixtures played by each team) they'll probably outdraw them this season too, once the Caps are done and we get better-drawing opponents than the Reds, Astros and Marlins in here (and of course assuming the Nats continue their current fine form, or something close to it). Even the visits to Preparation H Park At Camden Yards by the Yankees and Red Sox aren't the guaranteed 30k+ gates they once were.
