Fantasy Baseball Question re: Michael Morse
« Topic Start: March 23, 2012, 11:52:04 AM »
I am in a 12 team, NL Only, Auction League. Morse was grabbed in '10 as a free agent with a $10 salary. I acquired him last year, and have to offer him a contract by noon tomorrow, or, cut him loose.

Do I:
A - Cut him and his torn lat loose,
B - Be conservative, keep him and his strained, but healing lat and give him a 1 year deal at $15, or
C - Be aggressive, give him a 2 year deal for $20. The buyout would be $8 cash next March if things go really bad.

Do you think you could pick him up for $18 or less this year?  If yes, the A is possible.  If he is stud-like, then you have no problem extending him for 2013, maybe even 2014.

Otherwise, I think C makes sense.  He's a $20 player when healthy.  The lat will eventually heal.  If he looks like he's completely messed up, then the painful release might be on your radar.  Otherwise, you are going to want good Morse and look at his 2011 RZ-like year as the price for a bargain next year.
