Also, this:

I'm hoping he stays in the division, given the upgraded speed of the Skins receiving corps.

Patriots sign DE Jonathan Fanene for 3 years, essentially to replace Shaun Ellis.  Run stopper with some passrush potential

Also, this:

I like the Fanene signing. I don't like the idea of signing Landry though. Seems like he wouldn't be much better than Meriweather was...

Buffalo is doing everything they can to sign Mario Williams. I hope they get him. That would be a massive, franchise redefining addition.

Bruce Smith 2.0

I will buy a Super Mario jersey the day he signs with Buffalo. I'm amped/scared crapless we'll lose out on him.

A line of Williams/Williams/Dareus/College DE could easily be the best in the league... just a year after having one of the very worst.

If he gets past Jacksonville, I'd highly recommend South Carolina's Melvin Ingram. He's a monster.

It won't matter if Buffalo has the best d-line in football. All opposing QBs will need to do is see which receiver Drayton Florence is covering and throw it at that receiver as soon as the ball is snapped. At least twenty yards gained every time.

Strong possibility Williams will be going up against Nate Solder and not Matt Light next year.  Light may retire, which is strange b/c this was by far the best year he's had.

100 million for Mario Williams?

Did I miss something? I always thought Mario was kind of ... well good, but not great.

If you judge DE's by stats (sacks) then you may get that impression. But he creates a lot of QB pressure and makes the entire defense better because of it. The Bills will get a huge boost from having him on board.

Good God yeah. Mario Williams is a beast and is a fit in just about any defensive scheme as it looked like he could play rush lb in the 3-4 prior to getting hurt. Great player.

Was it Casserly who was canned for taking him instead of Bush?

Casserly was following Bob McNair's marching orders because they didn't want to deal with Reggie Bush's contract, but he spun it as taking the best player.  Ultimately Mario Williams left Houston for the same reason he came in, money. Also the reason they won't dip their toe into the Manning pool no matter how much their fans scream.

Schaub, right now, is a better QB than Manning who could be one hit away from retirement. They're smart not to chase him.

Schaub's better after that one hit, but Manning's better as long as he's playing.  But I agree they're better off.

with a year off, new offense (particularly new offensive line)- manning game is so much about communication and rhythm that I wouldn't be surprised if it takes him most of a season to get things down

Manning worked out for the 49rs this week.  SF, Tennessee and Denver are the finalists.  He told Arizona to take a hike.

Peyton in TN would be something given he played there in college, but Peyton in SF would be the instant favorites for the Super Bowl.  The team seemed to gel around Smith though last year.

Why the freak haven't the Browns signed a RB yet? There are other concerns for them to address through the draft; a RB should be acquired through free agency instead. They can't seriously expect Montario Hardesty to carry the load by himself. Mike Tolbert should be a Brown by now.

Speaking of Tolbert, he might be headed to Pittsburgh.

Brandon Lloyd close to a deal with NE... great, just what they needed. Perhaps he'll suck there for them.

I really thought he would end up in Miami, but it looks like they are focused on Alex Smith now.
