I swear I heard on mike and mike that 10 chargers players from the 1994 team are now dead.

How terribly sad

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!

Why T-Sizzle? WHY????

Seriously though, the balance of power has shifted in the AFC North. I would put the Steelers and Bengals as the favorites to win the division now. Ravens will be in it, but I have no idea how they'll generate any kind of pass rush this season. The pass rush was a weakness and it was something they wanted to address this offseason. The offensive line was a concern also, and they have done nothing this offseason to address that.

dude, its the bengals...the bengals. they'll freak it up and it'll be us two again.

good thing you have ELITE joe flacco

sorry that was mean

no mention of the Monk lawsuit?  I saw the clip on ESPN 360 about the brain issues with all the former players who have killed themselves or others.  If these suits win, and they likely will, the NFL is going to be a very different league in a few years (pro wrestling is going to have issues as well).

No they won't.  Just because they've got a sympathetic ear based on a couple of suicides doesn't mean you can expect the NFL to go broke paying out damages.  While I'm sympathetic to the plight of those that gave up their bodies and minds to the football godz, they also knew what they were getting into.  I'm really not sure how the WWE applies here since all of those guys are independent contracts and the definition of trading their bodies for cash no questions asked.

the challenge to the NFL is whether or not they knew about the impact of concussions and tried to cover it up.  If the plaintiffs can prove the owners put the players at risk, and lied to them, they'll win the suits.

I'm sure there weren't waivers after waivers signed during contract signings.

Not everything is waivible, and if they can show the nfl hid data, no waiver will matter.

Much like the 99%ers/Occupy Wall Street crowd - I hope they enjoy the theatre but this is Dick Cheney's AmeriKKKa - everyone takes it up the ass.

The only people taking it up the ass will be the nfl's insurers and whoever they sold the risk to

I seem to recall that, while Troy Aikman was still playing, one of the helmet companies was working on a new (for the time) lighter weight helmet. The thought was that as players tire, they don't keep their head's up like they should increasing the likely hood of getting concussed. I think the leagues has been onto the issue of concussions for a good while, but I don't think they or really anyone really realized how badly the long term as well as the short term affects truly were. I don't think they turned a blind eye to it though.

You know I was thinking today...  people complain about parity (or mediocrity) in the NFL, but when was the last time MLB had a sub-.300 team?  Tigers in '03?  NFL had FIVE such teams last year alone.  Likewise, I don't think there's been a .750+ MLB team in the last century.

If teams played 16 times once a week you would, if football teams had to have 5th qbs, you'd see more variation in results

Guys Tebow threw two INTs in the first OTA practice. Do you think Mark Sanchez has the Jets QB job won? Better watch some more ESPN.
