Looks like it's a total knee reconstruction. Not exactly surprising considering he already had an ACL surgery a few years ago. Hope you all enjoyed this season because that's the end of the electricity.  Hope he can turn into that pocket passer some seem to think he already is.

TL;DR: Washington Sports Curse continues.

6-8 months is the time frame prior to the surgery. I hope that's the case.

already did.....our 3-month avatar bet prior to last season when he was constantly trolling the nats:

1.   Washington will have better year end record than Miami.  I have the Nats.....MDS has the Marlins.
2.   Washington will have better year end record than Atlanta.  I have the Nats....MDS has the Braves.
3.   Washington will have higher year end home attendance total than Miami.  I have the Nats.....MDS has the Marlins.

I'd still do that trade for RGIII all day everyday. We were a moribund franchise and Griffin brought excitement to the Redskins much akin to what Harper brought to the Nats. Hindsight truly is always 20/20 but glad we were aggressive in getting him.

Just out of curiosity, how many "run Strasburg out till his arm falls off" people were clamoring for Griffin to be shut down?

How many play Strasburg until his arm falls off would play him in a game where he's obviously injured and ineffective?.

Zero. The team training staff, Davey, and Mark Lerner would never allow what Mensa Mike Klanahan did to RG3 to happen to one of their players. The FORESKINZ were given a Ferrari and they drove it like a stolen rental car until the engine died.

Don't get me wrong, I thought they should have went with Cousins following halftime. He was clearly just not the player we were used to.

Why don't you start a Bears thread so we can all go troll it mensaMDS?

If you wonder why some are questioning the skins - all you have to do is look at the last 15 years. This season really got my hopes up, but the aftermath is making me question things, both watching QBs we could have had for less succeed in the playoffs, then the RGIII should/could be back for the start of next season begin it's inevitable shift- my personal favorite being that our uber athletic qb may soon have the knees of Joe Namath-

Apart from the fact that there’s no way to know how the ACL will rehab, the biggest concern, as the source explained it, is the damage to Griffin’s cartilage.  With the ACL in the right knee now torn twice in less than four years, Griffin has lost enough cartilage in his knee to raise concerns about how much remains and how long it will last.  Eventually, Griffin could be dealing with bone-on-bone contact, and the chronic pain that goes along with it.

you mean Russell Wilson right? Otherwise who are all of these other qbs we could have had for less that have been succeeding in the playoffs? The good thing is, if there is one, that Cousins appears to be able to play. Of RGIII needs to miss the first few weeks, I think we'll be ok. Alford Morris has a lot to do with that though as well as the return of Orakpo, Carriker, Davis, Helu and Merriwether.

I also believe that RGIII can become an athletic pocket passer, but who knows.

Not a rookie. Completely different draft too. I'd still take Griffin over him too.

Watching Wilson and Kaepernick in the playoffs made me wonder, why don't they ever get hit? I know they don't run quite as much as RGIII, but I didn't see either of them take even a knock, whereas Griffin would have gotten clobbered several times in a similar period of time.
