You can rise your wife's road bike? 
A good road bike will make you want to want to ride forever. I ride my old Trek mountain bike around the Danger Zone, but that's mostly because I don't like leaving my main road bike outside now that I've got an office mate.
Kind of, sort of. Her bike was too small for, it felt like a toy. I was really bent over, but after 40 miles it was a nice change. Plus her clips were different. That's what got me to switch back, her clips bothered the bottoms of my feet.
