LAKE MONSTERS' KNUDSEN WINS JULIAN AWARD
BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Vermont Lake Monsters general manager C.J. Knudsen has been named winner of the 2006 Robert Julian Community & Baseball Service Award, an honor given by the New York-Penn League to an individual for his or her contributions to both their community and to baseball.
Knudsen was selected by the New York-Penn League for not just his work on behalf of the Lake Monsters in the local community but for his work on behalf of the league as executive director of the New York-Penn League Charitable Foundation. The foundation was formed in 2002 to assist individuals and organizations within the communities of New York-Penn League teams.
This is the second year the New York-Penn League has given out this award, named after former New York-Penn League president Bob Julian, who is currently a New York State Supreme Court Justice. Last year's inaugural winner of the Julian Award was Tri-City ValleyCats owner Bill Gladstone.
An example of Knudsen's work in the community can be found in his participation in the Boys & Girls Club of Burlington's One Fashion Event on Saturday, Jan. 27. Knudsen will be taking part as a model at the event, which includes a runway show featuring clothing and accessories designed by Boys and Girls Club members along with local stores and designers.
C.J. Knudsen has served as Vermont Lake Monsters general manager since 2000.
