Anyone played Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning yet? Skyrim bored the crap out of me after a few weeks, but my brother told me I'll probably like this game.

Played the demo on the PS3 and really liked it. I'm a fan of R. A. Salvatore so it's not really surprising.

I'll come right out and say it: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning will be discussed when Game of the Year 2012 rolls around. It has brought the conversation about what combat can be in the role-playing genre to the forefront and sets the bar exceptionally high for its future contemporaries in the genre. But don't let its competition-shaming gameplay lull you into think that that's all this game has to offer, because that's just gloss on an overall package that's bound to impress the RPG faithful.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning isn't the perfect game. Its random technical hiccups and inconsistent art style certainly holds it back from even higher levels of greatness. But no matter what you're looking for, whether it be amazing gameplay, immersive storytelling or perhaps a riveting new world to explore as you fully customize and re-customize your character at will, Reckoning has it all. And after I jump back into my own game to clean up all of the optional stuff I didn't do, I sense I'll want even more. And yes, so will you.

Isn't that the game that Curt Shilling's company helped develop?

So does Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning have a vibrant modding community too or is it more a console game?

EDIT: Aside from Skyrim, City of Heroes and OOTP, I have only really played Civ, SimCity, Leisure Suit Larry, B-17 Bomber, etc. so please don't take that as some kind of modern gaming geek (PC versus Console) troll bait.

Leisure Suit Larry was amazing. I played the first four or five of those. I'm not sure why my parents let me play them when I was so young, but whatever.

Fifa 12 has some cool feature where you can play in a tournament every couple of weeks... I just played one with people on my skill. You start with 16 teams left so you only need to win 4 in a row to win the cup... I just lost in PK's in the championship.

MLB 2K12 or MLB 12: The Show? I bought the Show '10, but I missed last years. I'm the kind of person that likes to "watch" sports games more than play them haha. Like i'm watching a game on tv, just enjoying the details of the game and stadium.

I agree, the details in the show games are top notch. It would floor me if they got every last detail of a typical game for each club down. Even to teddy never winning the race.

The Show, no question about it. I'm really jealous that I can't play it.

Hopefully EA gets on their game and has MVP ready for next year.

I've been thinking that since I made my picture my avatar. I saw his and I knew I made a bad choice but it still matches my avatar comment since there's no center fielder in that picture.

Is that the one coming out this year or is that last year's?  I always get confused with that.

I may pre-order The Show from Amazon to get it on release day, hopefully.

MLB 2K12 is this year. MLB will always have the same year in their title. NBA will always have the following year in their title.

Word.  I skipped over last year's titles, so I'm thinking of getting one of the two this year.
