You should see their AMA thread on Reddit. They're getting shredded.

They did the exact same thing with ME3.  I guess that's just going to be the MO for EA-published games now.  Not that they have a monopoly on this tactic, they're just being more brazen about it.  Deluxe/Collector editions of games have been reduced to nothing more than a way for the industry to circumvent the "standard" $60 price for games (used to be $50 :?) while still ostensibly offering the $60 option.

I think it started with the whole "pre-order" bonus package some years ago. I feel like that whole thing started the whole content for money at the start thing since people were willing to pay a few more bucks to get more content. Its crappy.

On another note... N64 games costed 60-70$.

Aw, I was trying to back up my claim but I can't find any proof. I recently saw old 1998 weekend ads for Toys R Us and Best Buy and such and I swear I saw N64 games costing that much. I was so shocked. I'll have to dig harder.

I think N64 games sold for $30.

I mean, that makes more sense than 30 I guess...  I distinctly remember new NES games costing 50 when I was a kid and I somehow doubt that the standard price dropped from NES to N64.

Star Wars and Killer Instinct.

Played the hell out of those two games as a kid... though I was always more of a Mortal Kombat fanboy.

It was one thing when the deluxe/collectors edition got you things like a nice metal disc case or an art book or whatever.  Now deluxe/collectors edition really means "non-stripped down edition."

Also, stop this Origin exclusive BS.  I'm not installing Origin when Steam works fine and there's no reason to not release on it as well.  I like having all my games in Steam, with the overlay and social stuff, and easily downloaded onto a new PC.

WoW on low settings, Rift on low MAYBE would be my guess.  It's a good bit more resource intensive than WoW.

according to System Requirements Lab, I exceed the minimum specs for both. but I figured I would get other opinions before I try.

I may shoot lower in regards to a MMO. I am sure there are more than a couple I could play with these specs.

I don't know for sure, I just checked that site.  I run WoW on my 2009 MBP on low settings @ 30 fps with a 2.8 GHz Core2Duo and integrated nvidia geforce 9400m, I don't play Rift on that machine.

This says I should easily get good frames in WoW, but it struggles to get 30 fps in Orgrimmar or even in a 25 man raid.  Though come to think of it, maybe it has something to do with OS X just sucking at gaming.  I've never bothered to test it on Windows 7 on the MBP.

I'm gonna go ahead and try Rift.

I can play for free till level 20, so it can't hurt to give it a shot and see how it runs.

btw, my Video Card has 1.4 GB memory, max.

You already have the laptop?  Also, you can play WoW free until lvl 20 as well if you want to test that on a new account before reactivating your old account.  See the WoW thread if you want an insta-80.
